WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush and top members of his administration mingled and shared laughs Saturday with Washington reporters, insiders and some outsiders -- including famed British rocker Ozzy Osbourne -- at this year's White House Correspondents dinner.

Comedian Drew Carey was on hand to provide the entertainment during the more than three-hour event, doing stand-up comedy for the president and more than 1,800 guests, from top White House adviser Karl Rove to hard rocker turned reality show star Ozzy Osbourne.

Ozzy standing on his chair and blowing kisses to the president was so funny, I laughed til my face hurt! That along with Drew Carey's line about reading Revelations and checking off each prophecy as they seem to be occuring today: "Yep, yep, red monster with the horns, Ozzie Osborn is now America's favorite t.v. dad, yep..." It was a very funny night.

I cannot, for the life of me, think why Bush would do this. We are fighting a war, young men in uniform are giving their lives for Freedom and the Shrub is at a dinner party living it up with the likes of Ozzy Osborne.

Are you mad that he was at a dinner party, or that Ozzy was there? Would it have been ok if he was yukking it up with Gordon Lightfoot?

You think it would have been better for Bush to have been the first president since before Calvin Coolidge to not have attended the dinner?

Wouldn't that be something if Ozzy turns out to be something like Ted Nuget!

Of course MTV would drop him like a hot cake.

An awful lot of those young men in uniform probably own a few Ozzy albums and are just fine with it.

If you look at the photo I posted in # 3 it starts out by saying "Ozzy Osbourne (R) ... ". I thought "Wow, AP is now identifying celebrities by political party". But instead of the (R) meaning Republican, I'm sure it means that Ozzy is standing to the Right in the photo. :-)

I don't fault Bush for being there, but I sure do have a problem with him hamming it up with regard to Osbourne. He didn't need to slam the guy from the platform, but did he have to address him? Sheesh!

This cracks me up from another article about the dinner.

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton (news - web sites) was also the object of Bush's humor when he showed a photograph of himself with a woman dressed in full-length blue burka and said it was the former first lady.

Ozzy as a Republican? Hmmm. Given his history, I doubt if Ozzy is particularly fond of being pushed around by busy-body government bureaucrats any more than we FReepers are. Maybe he just needs a little encouragement...

For the most part, the correspondents are a bunch of Commies anyway and in answer to one of your questions: I believe that in a time of war, there should be no partying until the war is over and our boys are home safely.

I'll tell you one thing, this whole charade of the correspondents dinner and Ozzy being there just goes to show you that life really does not matter to any of these schmucks. Like I said earlier, our boys are over fighting for our Freedoms and the shrub is partying it up with the likes of Ozzy Osborne and the MTV crowd, trying to appeal to all the young skulls full of mush. It won't work and this strategy is disgusting.

No and you want to know something, if I was invited, I wouldn't go because we are at war, and all my focus would be on winning this war and getting all of our boys back safely, to their families.
