WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush and top members of his administration mingled and shared laughs Saturday with Washington reporters, insiders and some outsiders -- including famed British rocker Ozzy Osbourne -- at this year's White House Correspondents dinner.

Comedian Drew Carey was on hand to provide the entertainment during the more than three-hour event, doing stand-up comedy for the president and more than 1,800 guests, from top White House adviser Karl Rove to hard rocker turned reality show star Ozzy Osbourne.

I completely agree with you. Bush made a fool of himself and Dick Cheney.

I don't think I've ever seen a post of yours that wasn't entirely critical of President Bush. Sheeesssshhhhhh. Did you actually WATCH the event on CSpan? It was very funny and was given rave reviews by most people. Maybe you could borrow someone's funny bone sometime. It's positively liberating to laugh. Try it sometime.

You need to remember that everyone here on this site is a conservative. Basically, (with some variations) we are working toward the same goal. If you don't like rock music I can't understand why you can't state that and leave it alone. You're on a thread with rock music lovers.

Use some common sense. Not everyone who likes rock music is EVIL as much as you like to think of it that way.

I never said that. It's a figment of your imagination or guilt. Actually, I only attacked Ozzie the Ork and rock and roll. I don't believe I attacked any Freeper personally.
Please don't take my hatred of r & r personally.

It's amazing, isn't it, how some people are stuck in abject negativity.

This thread happens to be a whole lot more than just about rock and roll. If this was all it was about I wouldn't be here. And I'm still here because I keep getting responses. I would love to move on to something else. I have made a few points.

I repeat. Ozzy has given up on drugs and alcohol and puts them down vehemently on his program. I asked you to remember the saints who have sinned and redeemed themselves. I mentioned Mary Magdalene ... the prostitute. As to your love or hatred of rock, I don't care. I marvel at why you must drive, drive, drive that point into people who actually do enjoy it. What is it in you that enjoys tearing down? What draws you to a thread exhaulting rock?

Rock and roll will outlast tight-asses like yourself.

It always does.

The correspondents' dinner, now in its 88th year, has become an occasion for self-deprecating humor from presidents. Last year Bush presented a slide show of his family accompanied by a joke-riddled speech about the 2002 election recount.

The press know something we don't?

I have made a few points.

You may think you've made points but you REALLY (in truth) come across as someone who must DRIVE and prove that rock music is bad.

Or is it Ozzy? What do you have against someone who has sinned and reformed? Or are you sitting on the sidelines making judgment calls?

Another FReeper, whose will remain unnamed, but who has some of the same take on Ozzy as CountryWesternRightWinger thinks the Texas Longhorn sign, which Bush can be seen making from time to time, is a Satanic hand sign. That's a new one on me. Have you ever heard of such a thing? Where do these people get this stuff from?

I was not aware that our nemesis was a country western fan ... I like CW music too. But, BOY, are there are lot of them into drugs, alcohol and adultery. I think we need to remind him of that.

I wondered when someone would pick up on this--"the shrub", none of us would have called President Bush "the shrub"! So, rambo's remarks mean nothing. If he can't call the President by a correct name, his remarks mean nothing!!

Are you are country western fan? Do you decide what CW music you like by how much alcohol the musican drinks, how many drugs and how many beds he/she are sleeping in? I'm sure you do ... uh huh ....

I don't know that he is, just a hunch. I can't stand CW music, though my husband seems to like it. Talk about vile stuff!

Do you have any idea how the country western stars who are cranking out songs are not "good examples" according to your very narrow view? You must never buy a song ...

I cannot, for the life of me, think why Bush would do this. We are fighting a war, young men in uniform are giving their lives for Freedom and the Shrub is at a dinner party living it up with the likes of Ozzy Osborne.

Life goes on during wars...and whatever this war on terrorism is, it's not anything like, say WWII, though I think it should be at this juncture...it's just not for now because of the political dynamics involved and the fact that the warrior enemy (Muslim Jihads) masks themselves as an "innocent" unassuming civilian and our friends.

Sure we took down the Taliban in Afghan. But from the list I saw, not a single Afghan was involved in 9-11. In fact, the list I saw of the terrorists involved were Saudi citizens. So no, I ain't convinced we've gotten to our true enemy yet.

Now come some here who are focused on Ozzie for his "profane" antics able to mingle with our president. Fact is, Ozzie is basically a harmless as well as honest human being. Meantime, the enemy lurks amongst us and has easy access to our shores.

Indeed, the gatekeepers are asleep at the wheel focused on some illusional enemy who can't seem to be found. Meantime, the real enemy from my point of view gets a free pass because he is some "Sheik with money and power." All the while his army kills our people and others around the world without every putting on a uniform...and then this sheik is able to go freely to Crawford Tx for talks with our President to tell him what he thinks he should do while no one complained.

Finally, since it was Saudis who flew those planes on 9-11, I'd say those Saudi shieks have some answerin and explainin to do. And for sure are more a threat to us than say Ozzie Osbourne.

Okay, let's ask him. What kind of must do you like CWR? Let's tear it to pieces because there surely isn't a human on earth who can live up to your lofty ideals.
