Star Hague Witness is Convicted Felon, Claims Everyone is Lying

Milosevic “inside” witness fights for credibility

13:54 THE HAGUE, Tuesday – Slobodan Milosevic has produced a document from the Belgrade District Court confirming that the Hague Tribunal’s star witness against him was jailed in 1977 for robbery.

The document was produced as part of the former Yugoslav president’s wide-ranging attack on Tanic’s credibility.

Milosevic insisted on the court documents being admitted to evidence after Tanic claimed he had never been convicted of robbery and insisted that no such information existed.

The Hague Tribunal’s “inside” witness against the former Yugoslav president claims to have been present when, during the NATO bomb attacks on Yugoslavia, Milosevic told former Deputy Prime Minister Vuk Draskovic “there will be no ceasefire because Serbia and Yugoslavia need civilian casualties in order to prove NATO is a terrorist organisation”.

He also claimed that former deputy Serbian prime minister Ratko Markovic had told him before negotiations in France aimed at averting the bombing that there would be no serious negotiations with Albanians.

Tanic told the court that Draskovic and Markovic were both lying when they denied these conversations took place.

Serbia’s current police Minster, Dusan Mihajlovic, was also lying, said Tanic, when he denied that Tanic, who claims to have been a senior figure in Mihajlovic’s New Democracy party, played any role in negotiations with Albanians.

In court today, Tanic claimed that those who were now denying his claims were under pressure in Belgrade and washing their hands.

He insisted he had evidence to back his allegations.

Tanic today dismissed suggestions made by Milosevic in cross-examination that he had left Belgrade because of debts and that he had been paid to testify.

Anyone else notice that western reporting on the "Most Important War Crimes Trial since Nurenburg" has dropped off almost completely. Could it be that the trial is turning out to be a circus, an embarassment?

This is truly hilarious, though. ICTY's star "inside" witness apparently is a convicted felon and everyone, including pro-western leaders Vuk Draskovic and Dusan Mihajlovic, certainly no lovers of wiley Milosevic, who deny this 'witness' was present at the meetings he claims he was present at, are all liers. Hard to believe a felon who claims everyone else is lying.

Bush should pull the plug on the whole operation--at the Hague, and in Kosovo. It's very hard for Bush to change course like that and admit that we fought on the wrong side and without any moral or legal justification. But how long can we let clinton get away with dragging the United States through the mud, making us all, in effect, complicit in a criminal conspiracy?

What a "case" these prosecutors/persecuters at the kangaroo "court" in the Hague have against Slobo. The great majority of their "witnesses" are KLA/UCK members or clan members, which makes them PROVEN muslim liars. Then there is Rugova who now calls the KLA "freedom fighters" (even thought they had been trying to kill him for several years), and Padded Splashdown who admits that the KLA are terrorists (thus contradicting Rugova, who has a big incentive to "cooperate" with the KLA to stay in power, and probably to save his skin).

Now we have this convicted felon and probable debtor (i.e., he's in need of NATO money). He requires us to believe that everyone else is lying in order to believe that he's telling the truth. And he even says that Milosevic had no intention to "negotiate" with the Shiptars at Ramboiullet (sp?). But we all know that that was no negotiation at all, but an ULTIMATUM for Milosevic to relinquish control of Kosovo and to allow NATO occupation of ALL OF Yugoslavia!!!! So once again, Tanic's "testimony" falls into the twilight zone!!!!

I heartily agree that Bush should pull the plug on the kangaroo "court", sooner rather than later. That would end his hypocrisy of suppoting the ICTY while rejecting the ICC. It's also time for him to do a total 180 and start supporting the Serbs and stop backing muslim thugs in the Balkans! He should just blame the whole thing on clinton, who also deserves the blame for 9/11 and whatever else the muslim terrorist international has planned for us in the way of attacks on US soil!!!

How cute. Did that idea originate in the chechen scum pond for these groups or do they have earlier uses?

It is truely sad to see this waste of $100million a year of taxpayers money. GWB's White House was spot on in Feb. when it declared the Tribunal to be mismanaged and sloppy

"Aren't you late for your KLA meeting about now?"

I don't go to KLA meetings, (we don't have any in this green and pleasant land), but maybe you'd like to? I'm sure your powerful arguments, and debating skill would win them over. Take Crazy with you, it'd be a riot!!!.......Only joking of course!

This is truly hilarious, though.

As Raimondo described it some time ago: "For the sheer crudeness of the little morality tale now being played out in the Hague – like an amateur skit, with key actors forgetting their lines, and the props visibly collapsing before the eyes of the audience – is, indeed, serving as a warning to all the peoples of Europe and beyond: it could happen to you!"

KLA Brit,

You missed something about Tanic.........He claims to have been a informant for the Yugoslav FBI. That claim is likely to be as valid as his others.

Too bad the Tribunal doesn't have any punishment for perjury.......Most of the prosecution testimony was easily shown to be fabrications durig cross-examination

Or to make a point, in any court in the western hemisphere, this 'testimony' would be thrown out and the witness dismissed. Not so for 'international justice'.

Tanic was an agent of the Serb state security service.

WRONG! Here's the truth about Ratomir Tanic:

"K-3" was soon revealed to be no other than one Ratomir Tanic, a Serbian swindler known for massive gambling debts and a penchant for inventing personal exploits. In other words, a professional con artist. The Serbian press regaled its readers with stories of Tanic's life of deceit. He never worked for Yugoslav intelligence. He did not know the location of any of the meeting rooms he described, and the meetings he claimed to have taken part in never took place. Most of this was revealed in the course of Milosevic's cross-examination, but true to form, reports ignored it.
