Right, the volume (say, from a leak, building up until it licks a pilot light or a light switch makes a spark) can make a catastrophic explosion, but it would be a one time event, and would consume the fuel, and then any continuing combustion would be limited to the small amount of gas that kept coming out of the pipes, right?Right. Many times there is no fire as the blast blows itself out. If the broken line burned it would be a steady flame. That would not account for "continued explosions"

I suppose if the guys name who lived in the apt. was named abdul it would still be believable that it was just a guy have a bbq inside that caused all this. /sarcasm

When I was a kid, I found out the hard way that giving your dog chili is a very bad thing to do It's not too healthy for some humans either ;-)
You wouldn't want to come over to my dad's house the day after he and I go to the local chili cookoff. Chili and beer is an explosive combination.

Per Fox, eye witness living in the building next door just said she did not smell gas, she said that it has a chemical smell. Break right now, but the woman is still on the phone.

Sulpher smell is probably the odorant
To: glock rocks
you gave your little sister to your dog?
My dog then was such a coward - she scared him to death.

Does the Fox News Network have a live stream?
No... They used to stream live video, but they stopped... I was told that you could get the audio over XM Radio...
Actually, I just checked their web site and you get Fox, CNN, C-Span, BBC World News, Bloomberg, CNNfn, CNBC... Pretty cool.

Fox caller reported a "sulphury smell". Gunpowder? Meth lab.....
To: MileHi
Sounds like a big gas explosion. It burned very quickly.

Maybe the double servings of refried beans and egg salad were a bad idea...LOL. Seriously, I knew nothing of this until I came to FR a couple of minutes ago. This place is as good as Fox and CNN sometimes.
To: Poohbah
Those are good points. Sort of like people who try to camoflauge the heat generated from the grow lights in the basement pot garden. And if it's a neighborhood with mostly elderly people, they may not be aquainted with the MO of a crank lab.

That would not account for "continued explosions"Gas grill propane containers might explain it.
To: The KG9 Kid;justanamerican
One hell of a gas grill from the foto. NG? A house around here was blownup a an NG explosion; it was flattened! Lots of coincidences in the news since 9/11, however. Perhaps a namelist of tenants would help over here.
