Some time ago there was an explosion after some moron let off a whole bunch of bug bombs and a pilot light or something ignited the fumes. Could this explosion possibly be something like that?

Looks like about a two or three story complex.... If this is terrorism, it would most likely be Palestinian.
Bin Laden's network would not likely go after small buildings. He would strike a much more spectacular target in a major city like New York City or Washington DC.

yes..since about 99% of home/apartment explosions are caused by natural gas, this hypothesis isnt a reach.

That would be my bet, natural gas explosion. Hopefully it was an innocent leak.
