Top GOP'er 'Furious' at Hillary, Calls for 9-11 Clinton Probe

Oklahoma Sen. Don Nickles, the number two Republican in the Senate, said Saturday that he was "furious" at his colleague, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, over comments she made last week suggesting that President Bush could have prevented the 9-11 attacks.

Then, in a warning to Clinton and other Democrats who have focused exclusively on 9-11 intelligence failures during President Bush's first eight months in office, Nickles added, "If we're going to have an investigation, we should have an investigation of why we didn't respond strongly to previous acts of terror."

"I'm pretty critical of the previous administration," the leading Republican explained during a lengthy interview with his homestate newspaper, the Oklahoman. "They dropped the ball in the war on terrorism. They never engaged in the war on terrorism."

Nickles has already begun laying the groundwork for a Clinton-9-11 terror probe, showing the newspaper prepared charts listing five terrorist attacks on the U.S. during the Clinton administration, not counting the Oklahoma City bombing.

Juxtaposed with the charts' graphics, the Oklahoma conservative has inserted quotes from President Clinton promising a strong and forceful response. But, said Nickles, those promises were never followed by effective action.

The Republican leader complained that U.S. facilities at home and abroad were attacked repeatedly during the Clinton years but, "we didn't do anything about it."

He cited the 1998 al Qaeda bombings of U.S. embassies in Africa, the 1996 Khobar Towers military barracks bombing and the attack two years ago on the U.S.S. Cole.

In light of the Clinton administration's failed record on terrorism, Nickles said that Mrs. Clinton's attack on President Bush was "very inappropriate."

I know!! Doesn't that just frost you - I think his comment was - the dems "always have been for tax cuts" or something equally stupid. Like we are so ignorant we have already forgotten their fighting with the President to keep the tax cuts from happening.

This issue is personal with me because I was with Roger Hedgecock's group in March of 2001 to lobby the Congress for our tax cuts. We paid extra attention to dem members because we wanted them to know we were FOR the tax cuts.

But ... Daschle is true to the dem's playbook - projection. They are lying through the roof, yet they say the President and Vice President are lying - which is only their way of covering up their own lying. Dispicable!!

The Republican leader complained that U.S. facilities at home and abroad were attacked repeatedly during the Clinton years but, "we didn't do anything about it."

There are some good slogans in there somewhere:

Clinton was AWOL for the War On Terrorism.

Clinton dodged the draft for the War on Terrorism.

You must understand, this administration does not tell the criminal what they are doing. Unlike the Clinton administration and those dems/libs in Congress - who revealed everything they were doing - which of course allowed the perps to destroy the evidence before an investigation could even begin.

But what about those being investigated? You don't honestly expect us to believe that among the HUNDREDS of democRATS that need to be questioned, many of whom will likely go to jail if this is pursued, some would not go public in an attempt to stop the investigation using "politics" and the media? NOTHING stops them or their lawyers from seeking favor with the media or friendly politicians. Sorry ... this defense of Bush is pretty transparent.

Furthermore, I don't expect that some of those who were wronged would remain quiet either. Again, there would be some indication that something was up. There isn't ... and if history is any guide ... that means nothing IS happening. As far as I'm concerned, you and the move-on'ers are just trying to use the ol' delay, delay, delay tactic. What's next ... deny, deny, deny? Some of the move-on'ers are already in that stage, by the way.

No ...

I believe your defense of Bush not investigating is obviously faulty because you have nothing to counter the two points I made.

So like a democRAT, you RUN.

You are obviously upset because I don't agree with you - I'm a precinct captain for the Republicans. How that makes me a dem I don't know - but as I said you obviously want me to agree with you - I don't. Soooooo sue me.

If you can't stand on your own convictions - then you're not very convinced of them. I believe what I believe and if you don't agree - oh well!! My convictions are not based on whether or not you agree with me.

You think Bush is avoiding prosecuting the Clintons. I'm not convinced of that. So, we don't agree! So! Why are you trying to make a federal case out of the fact I don't agree with you?? You're entitled to your opinion, I just don't agree with you.

However, your actions are much more liberal than mine - because liberals are much more pushy and require that others think like they do or they start calling names. Being a conservative, I think for myself. If I don't agree with you, I don't make a federal case out of it, and I don't require you to believe as I do.

And ... I'm not accusing you of having any ulterior motive just because you don't agree with me - like "being a move-on" type of person. Personally, I don't care what you think.

I have a very strong feeling that Nickles has a lot more information on what happened in Oklahoma than we do, and he could probably really tell some stories if only he would!
