This is a butt-covering article by the DM Register, who has all but blown Salier off till now.
It does not look good for Ganske. Other than DM, I don't see where his base is energized. Since only the core people usually vote in the primaries, and those are mostly Salier people, where are the votes going to come from?

Ganske has done several internals. They are so bad that they are not releasing them.

If anecdotal evidence means anything, Salier has a lot of support across the countryside. I drive the Western half of Iowa regularly and see signs everywhere. What's your take on the GOP governor's race?

I hope Salier wins. I've contibuted to his campaign since he appears to be a supporter of the Constitution.

The bottom line is that despite the GOP trend in this region, the commie lib will probably win reelection. I am less partisan than most here, but Harkin is one of my least favorite senators. What a mess.

If I'm not mistaken, Ganske is a tad on the RINO side. Maybe more than a tad. If Sailer is a decent conservative, than best of luck to him. A youngblood jarhead full of pi** and vinegar is just what Iowa needs to confront Harkin. I just hope the man is serious about WINNING, and not doing this simply to get his name listed in the political graveyard.
In order to defeat a liberal, you need to attack first. If Mr. Sailer or any of his supporters are reading this, I strongly suggest they read-up on David Horowitz, particularly his pamphlets "How To Beat The Democrats", and "A Pocket Guide to Political Victory". Both can be ordered from www.politicalwar.com. FIGHT LIKE A BRAVE!!!.

If Ganske survives the primary, I will hold my nose and vote for him in the Fall. But I think Salier has a very real chance. He has my vote, anyway.
My only fear is that the folks that don't pay attention will show up at the primary. I wish they'd just stay home if they aren't going to be informed.

Rush talked about Salier today on his show. I hope he wins. Ganske will automatically become one of McCain's butt boys.

In my internal polling with friends who are Republican that live in Iowa - It's Salier by a landslide. I agree with you that Ganske will get DM but I am not sure about the SW and NW counties. I think Salier is Iowa's version of Bill Simon. (See CA Governor race) As for the Governors race Gross and Vanderplatts seem to be the leaders even though Sukup has spent a fortune on ads. Also it is curious that the U of I President leaves for Michigan. I think she sees the writing on the wall.

I certainly hope Salier can pull this off. I think a fresh face would be a nightmare for Tom "Dungheap" Harkin.
