Since the administration argues the government's position in
cases before the Supreme Court, I disagree with your
assessment.

When the Supreme Court changes their direction on the
second, wake me up.

Playing to the moderates four months to a major election might not be such a bad idea. Unfortunately, it is the high number of moderates, rather than an increasingly-conservative base, which is probably keeping Bush's approval ratings so respectable.

Mud ole buddy you just told me one thing. You ain't never been a rich and powerful news jockey.

Once buys like Rush get past the "I can buy anything I want syndrome" the money is not a motivator at all. What is the motivator is prestige, position, and power.

Very few men that make it big in any field do it for the money. What Rush, Larry King, Rather, Brokaw, Jennings and the rest do it for is the prestige and power. Most of them will let go of the power and prestige when is is pried from their cold dead hands.

People in both politics and the media are like ball players. They will do what ever it takes to get in the game. They will play for any team. The will switch teams. They want to play and will do all it takes to get to play. They are players .... not partisans. The fans are the partisans, not the players. But unlike Sports politicians never get too old to play. Media types do.

Rush is just doing what he thinks will keep him in the game. I am not sure it will, but he thinks it will help

The media guys are like ballplayers in that they want to be in the record books. And the record books for both broadcasting and politics are like sports. What they remember years later is how many home runs you hit or how big the audience was for how long. Not what they paid you to hit the ball or garner the audience. Money is not what gets you in the record books. It is not even how they keep score.

Don't you think Rush has noticed what Bill O'Reilly has done to Larry King. Don't you think Rush knows Bill wants to take Rush down?

If Rush dropped to 16 million audience and Bill picked up just 4 or 6 million every TV News show in the country would carry it. Then the story this station or that one dropped Rush for Bill.

I think it was either Jerry Springer or Dan Rather, I can't remmber which that said Controvery sells tickets.

It does.. indeed.

Rush like Johnny Carson wants to go out as king of the his division of broadcasting. But right now Rush hears heavy breathing behind him. He does not want to get beat.

I have learned one other thing over the years. Guys who are afraid of getting beat... Get beat.

"Rush has become the enemy...IMHO."

Seriously, OldFriend, how often have you even listened to Rush lately?! If you have done so often, you'd realize that is opinions speak for a lot of us Principled Conservatives.

"Evidently his masters felt that the audience needed to be broadened, hence the catering to the left. They are welcome to Rush, Sean, and the other useful idiots the media loves to tweak."

Who exactly do you see as Rush's masters?! The dude's got a 10-year $200 Million guaranteed contract, why would he need to answer to anybody?!! And BTW, am I one of your so-called "useful idiots"?!

"It was just last week Rush was lauding the Washington comPost for their story on how the Pentagon was against ever going to war in Iraq. He said he has confidence in the reporter at the comPost. Today, he has confidence in the reporting of the NYSlimes.......shessh.....he is soo transparent!"

Be pissed off at Rush if you so desire...however, please retain your intelectual independence to admit that maybe--just perhaps--you were wrong in jumping to the conclusion to which you have leaped.

There is an article posted here today that says many of the environmentalist in the Dept of Interior are quiting over this report, I will post the link if you have not seen it.

This is manipulation and propaganda at its finest. Don't fall for it! Whenever there is a significant move to the Left, the socialist press always endeavors to give the appearance of the opposite. Don't you realize that the press has been doing this forever?

This reminds me of the propaganda that ensued from our country's adoption of the Federal Reserve Act (1913). The private owners of the monopolistic central banking cartel wrote the Act and handed it over to Congress. Once enacted into law, the governement and the press made it appear as though the American citizens were the winners and the Federal Reserve the losers.

Don't fall for this type of propaganda. There has just been a significant move to the Left -- admit it!

I think Bush is appeasing the liberals till the 2002 election; he can't do anything till the obstructionists in the Senate are elected out. Hopefully Republicans will get back the Senate in 2002 and then I foresee Bush pushing his conservative agenda full force.

good gawd! this naivete and wishful thinking is unbelieveable. don't you all understand that once we have moved to the left and grown government there is no getting it back??? there is no undoing of anything!!! [/banging head against the wall]

Bush is pandering to the Moderate Voters hoping that it will help him get re-elected in 2004, and help the Republicans regain the Senate, and increase their strength in the House. Nothing more should be read into this situation."""

Bush may be also helping trash the stock market, by adopting anti-business policy papers, and giving the greenies ammunition to push for laws and regs that will kill jobs. The controversy on this thread is whether Rush said something or other, while the controversy ought to be whether Bush is adopting Daschle's politics and policies - and undermining the economy as a result.

Furthermore, Bush's failure to hold the Saudis responsible for
9/11 will be seen as the most craven act of cowardice that any
public leader ever committed, ever, in the history of Western
Civilization.

Maybe no one saw GW Sr. defending the Saudi prince on TV,
where he stated that the Saudis' could say that Israel
were the terrorists. (not an exact quote, but it made me sick)

Uh I just question people(Rush, Drudge, and Hannity) who take the New York Times's take on a low level administration report as the word of G-d.

Wow talk about thought police.

Folks, it's time to move away from reacting to everything printed in the mainstream newsrags.

Yes, as well as every knee-jerk reaction of Rush's. The media lies. Even Fox and Rush, et al, want ratings and will gravitate to the sensational rather than the dull facts.

Assuming you meant Rush; he has always questioned the bias of the NYT. But that's not the point.

The point is that the Bush Administration now affirms that global warming is real and it is caused by human activity...that's in the Report (the NYT is irrelevant here). Rush has always been a free market conservative and this report is an assault on the free market by conceding the human activity argument based on pseudo-science.

Also, while the folks that say they read the report claim that no action is being taken, I've read in the report that new regulations will be implemented on how close you can build near the water for fear the oceans will rise due to ice caps melting. Yep, this report has no effect.
