Well, well, well. The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is going to offer a complete college course on the Presidency of Bill Clinton. Margaret Scranton, who will teach the course, told the Washington Times, "I hear through the grapevine that this has made him (former President Clinton) pretty happy."

No doubt. It is unlikely that a course in Clinton's home state, offered at a public university, is going to be very hostile to the former Governor of Arkansas.

That new course has given me an idea for other courses at public universities that might be considered. First, so as not to miss an opportunity and waste time, the University of Texas could offer a course entitled "How George W. Bush Ended The Clinton prosperity." Then there could be a course at another branch of the Texas university system which would be listed as follows: "The George Herbert Walker Bush Presidency: From The Highest Standing Ever In The Polls To Utter Disgrace And
Defeat." This will compete with a different course at state teacher's colleges entitled: "The Bush Dynasty: How An Underachieving Dolt Of A Son Managed To Become President Thanks To A Stolen Election In Florida And My Buddies On The Supreme Court."

Different systems in California could compete for a course on the Reagan Presidency. One catalogue would list a course which reads "How Ronald Reagan Personally Caused An Increase In Poverty, Brought The United States Unnecessarily To The Brink Of World War And Increased The Level Of Stupidity In The Country" as opposed to another which reads: "Ronald Reagan's Two Terms. Eight Years Of No Substance And Total Spin".

The University of Georgia is reportedly working on a college offering entitled "Malaise As Fine Art. Evening In America As A Great Contribution To Society." The University of Michigan will sponsor a no credit offering titled: "The Ford Presidency. Does Anyone Remember?"

Back out in California, the political science departments, in addition to the Reagan courses, will have a number on Richard Nixon. The first is "Why Richard Nixon Should Never Be Forgiven Despite a Lifetime Of Selling Out To The Establishment." Another is "The Nixon Presidency. Why He Should Have Resigned Before He Ever Took Office."

The Texas system also offers courses on the presidency of Lyndon Johnson. "Why The Great Society Was Really Great Despite What It Did To Society" is one. "Lyndon Johnson. How Humility And Meekness Makes For Good Public Policy" is another.

Of course there was the Kennedy Presidency. The University of Massachusetts has these modest offerings: "The Camelot Years. JFK As The Religious Icon Of The Secular State." And then there is "The Making Of A Saint Without The Church."

Of course the Kansas University system offers courses on Dwight David Eisenhower. The best is called "Eight Years Of Golfing and Goofing." The Missouri system has quite a unique course. It reads "Harry Truman. How We Used To Respect Him Until Conservatives Found Virtue In His Presidency."

The New York University system has mandatory courses: "FDR. The New Deal And The Way It Saved The Nation, And Invented Sliced Bread At The Same Time." And then "The FDR Legacy. How Anyone Who Doesn't Continue To Vote In That Tradition Is A Traitor."

The University of Iowa has a simple course: "Herbert Hoover And How He Single-Handedly Caused The Great Depression."

Finally, there is the Vermont college. Their offering is: "Calvin Coolidge. He Talked Too Damn Much And Spent Too Damn Much."

Other courses about George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams and John Quincy Adams, Abraham Lincoln Teddy Roosevelt and others have all been dropped. "They are no longer objective," spokesmen for various university systems declared. On the other hand, the course on the Clinton Presidency is objective, The University of Arkansas insisted.

Weyrich is usually writes dour and doomsday articles, but this one is hilarious.
