A day in the life of President Bush (photos); 6/6/02

In what can be called a massive restructuring and combining of government agencies, President Bush addressed the country this evening and outlined his proposal for elevating the Department of Homeland Security to a cabinet position. In this new cabinet position, the following agencies will be consolidated into one mission, homeland security: the Coast Guard, the Border Patrol, the Customs Service, Immigration officials, the Transportation Security Administration, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. In addition to sharing information among all of these different agencies, the Department of Homeland Defense will be charged with four tasks:

1. To control our borders and prevent terrorists and explosives from entering our country.

2. To work with state and local authorities to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies.

3. To bring together our best scientists to develop technologies that detect biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons, and to discover the drugs and treatments to best protect our citizens.

4. To review intelligence and law enforcement information from all agencies of government, and produce a single daily picture of threats against our homeland. Analysts will be responsible for imagining the worst, and planning to counter it.

The President urged Americans to call their representatives and encourage them to support the plan. Enjoy your daily dose of Dubya!

Wonderful pictures again, Rintense. The carpet in the Oval Office is plain in Pic #5 (I THINK I remembered that number rightly) - what's with that, I wonder? I thought the pattern of the new carpet extended nearly to the edge.

Re: Rug being cleaned...they couldn't sanitize the old one from x42 enough, so George said, "I need a new one...I'll keep it clean!"

Thanks. She has had more than her share of health problems lately. She went to a doctor one day this week and he told her it is the worst foot break a person can have and she would be in a cast for about 8 weeks or have the pin put in and be on her feet a lot sooner. Which would you choose in this Alabama weather? It is already in the high 80's and mid 90's and casts are no fun!!! MamaB

LOL, no he already got his new one. Remember, X42's rug was blue and President Bush's rug was shades of brown with touches of that strange soft blue. Very beautiful. It must be out being cleaned.

What is the deal here? They must be cleaning the Oval Office carpet?

President was great tonight. Short and sweet. I would have preferred a longer speech with more details but no matter.

Yes, our President's voice WAS full of authority and his presentation was PERFECT. Whadda man!

Tomorrow, Limbaugh will be whining about it being a dangerous move. And already Hitlery is chiming in about our lack of protection from terrorists, as though she thought of it all by her little, lying self.

Excellent.

Everything is going as planned.

Well, actually ok, they redid the flooring in the Oval Office quite some time ago, and the pattern of the individual boards radiates out so that, in some pictures, it looks like an extension of the new rug. Confusing, huh?

How do you handle the Dose and respond to other posts too? You are amazing to juggle it all.

By the way, this is Rintense Appreciation Night!

Doing pretty good today, CS. My PT gave me the go ahead to begin exercising (with some caution) and it feels SOOO good! I have more energy it seems. On the flip side, it's been hotter than h.e.double toothpicks here and I'm already tired of it. Summer and I do *not* get along. :o/

Don't you love having a Harvard MBA in the Oval Office? Organization, fresh ideas, leadership, and a downright uncanny ability to outsmart the foe! I love this guy!

btw, meatball count at 427, garage paint touched up, shrubs trimmed, scrapbooks and picture collages ready to go! On track for Saturday's Graduation Gala! :o)

That's ok. I just had good timing!!!! She is watching tv for a little while and she will probably run me off soon. Then what will I do? To watch this little tv, I have been sitting on the floor right in front of it and I still have problems reading stuff on it. I think it is smaller than my monitor!!! Oh well. We will have the big one back soon. I HOPE!!!! MamaB
