It's good for your daughter to choose abstinence but not all young people will do so. Adolescents should learn about the risks of various kinds of sexual activity and safe-sex alternatives before they become sexually active. Sexual ignorance can result in unwanted pregnancy and sexually-transmitted disease.

My basic point is that we shouldn't legitimize jihadist attacks on "Western decadence" by indulging in this sort of self-flagellation. The bottom line is that the leaders of those nations and societies hate Western values because they threaten to wake up their sheeple.

Thanks... I personally have always known that there are people of dubious character all over the place. What is the hardest for me to deal with is their effect on my impressionable and young children. It becomes tougher and tougher to stand up for character and morality and anything of value today - and expect your kids to listen, when society disdains you. For our part, we try very hard to instill what we believe are good values into our children. They are members of Boy Scouts, we surround ourselves with friends and family who share our values, we watch very, very carefully what they learn at school, we have taken charge of their religious instruction (as our church is imploding from [homo]sexual scandal). But it is dismaying. For myself, I've become less complacent, now that I have teenage children, and I'm more willing to take on those lacking character. I'm tired of PC-stupidity (and sometimes evil), and I hope I have the strength to defend my values when necessary. There is nothing more important to me than having my kids grow up to be good Christians. All else for me is secondary.

There are no safe-sex alternatives. Condoms fail some 10% to 15% of the time, and provide no barrier to many viral sexual diseases. Kids have been taught lies about safe-sex for many a year. The explosion of VD (things like drug-resistant, untreatable gonorrhea, herpes, papillomavirus (which causes cancer)) is an indication of that. And then, or course, there's the abortion thing. Kids and adults who think one can simply get an abortion (murder) when safe-sex doesn't work, and that there will be no psychological and long lasting consequences are horribly fooling themselves.

One bright spot - our current president appears to be one decent and good person - as well as having a great deal of common sense and fortitude. I'm not afraid to have our children listen to him.

Gentlemen, I believe we need to start local FReeper groups of like-minded parents, and make each date "run a gauntlet" before courting our daughters.

Not a bad idea. One thing we see everywhere in the New Jersey suburbs is that a great many parents have no idea where their kids go or what they're up to. I love my kids too much to let that happen.

I don't envy anyone being parents of teen-agers and younger in this post-Clinton era.

It's not so tough if you care more about your children than chasing a buck. If you start them out young understanding the difference between right and wrong, they will seek out friends who don't engage in improper behavior of this type or pressure their friends to do so.

My children have been told since they were young not to pay attention to the mainstream media or television crap which seeks to portray inappropriate behavior as normal.

Just good, clean kiddy fun.... And, they are spreading STDs. Some STDs prevent the "victim" from having children later in life. One STD weakens the immunity system and allows other STDs and diseases to successfully invade the host.

Add about ten years of experience to those ages. The kids of today have sex the same way that they eat. It is just an accepted thing. It wasn't too long ago that they would be called sluts. Now, it is normal.
