Great News! Congratulations Jim and thank you for continuing to fight the good fight! Very Cool!

BTW, I love this little ditty by the Brain Surgeons over at the AFhole site....
There are so many strange things said on FR that we need a thread just to capture the silly, strange, odd, comments from the Freakers. Here's the first. I'll include it in context.

For security and cleanup duty, keywords added via "Add Keyword" are logged with your user id, though currently only moderators can view this information (though that may change in the future.) Use this feature as an ad hoc topic system and replacement for the deprecated bump list register.
They then go on to mock your use of the word 'deprecated', John, claiming that you are a moron and do not know how to use the word correctly.
Meanwhile, I am laughing my a&& off, because as a senior programmer, I encounter the word all the time. The dictionary even says:
Said of a program or feature that is considered obsolescent and in the process of being phased out, usually in favour of a specified replacement. Deprecated features can, unfortunately, linger on for many years. This term appears with distressing frequency in standards documents when the committees writing the documents realise that large amounts of extant (and presumably happily working) code depend on the feature(s) that have passed out of favour.
But you never should expect the AFholes to exhibit any intelligence, that's for sure. :o)

It's a crying shame that the hallowed words of the WP/LAT will no longer grace our pages, but, somehow, I am sure we will manage to live on without them. Who needs 'em anyway? It's not as if most of the news they print can't be found in some form somewhere else! Congratulations!

... Free Republic agrees to pay the Los Angeles Times $5,000 and the Washington Post $5,000 (these negotiated amounts have already been paid).
... While this is not entirely a win for FR, neither is it a crushing defeat. Free Republic is alive and well and the fight against liberalism continues on.
I am VERY pleased that the court battles and worries accompanied with it are over for you, Jim.
But you'll have to forgive me Jim, I'm confused with your reply above. With all due respect, I'm sincerely interested in how one hand, as you admit above, this is indeed (sad to say) a defeat for Free Republic and yet this settlement not a complete defeat for the Fair Usage clause which, if I am not mistaken, was the original premise this was fought under ?

Nothing like dragging home from a mundane day at work to news like this! YAHOO! I will raise a cold and frosty mug of Pilsner Urquell to the Robinsons and the legal team this evening as a toast to your success!

Good news! Thanks for posting to let us know :-)

Congratulations on the finalization of this ridiculous piece of litigation. The liberals will try anything to stop real political discourse. You and the other freepers are to be congratulated on your stand.

Good News! Still seems to me that this was nothing but harrassment, but... Go FR Go!

It's the community that JR has built that is what's truly remarkable. My bold, daring and ill conceived little proposal is that if someone feels compelled to post some news item to the group, and that item is mandated to be linked and not pasted, then the poster is responsible for archiving it for later exploration. I'm sure we can work some off FR line data base out with a Headline, date, source, Title and Freeper to be contacted independent from this forum if the subject needs to be revisited. Perhaps just saving it in our own Favorite Thread area, even though the link is dead, will help us identify the Freeper who posted the original piece and who should be contacted to independently send over the in-no-way-FR-authorized-approved-or-sanctioned text of the usually offending article.
If it's not worth saving for the forum through your own individual effort and on your own personal WORM optical drive or Tandy cassette player, it's not worth posting in the first place.
I, for one, am praying for a cease and desist order from Lew Rockwell.
