Two public school employees from Ohio who are at the center of a national religious-discrimination case involving the National Education Association testified before a congressional hearing yesterday in favor of ending forced unionism.

Dennis Robey and Kathleen Klamut told the House Education Workforce workforce protections subcommittee that the nation's largest teachers' union systematically discriminates against those members who have religious objections to supporting the union's political causes, including abortion and homosexual rights.

The NEA has quite alot of power. Go against their mantra, you will be quickly branded. Just try to stop paying the dues and you will be blackballed and soon be out the door. You will never find a republican school board member stick up for a conservative teacher; filthy politicals.

I use to argue with fellow teachers when they went off the deep end with the "IT REALLY DOES TAKE A VILLAGE GARBAGE". I just avoid it all anymore. Pretty tough when starting teachers with 5th year degrees earn less than kids right out of high school at costco. Heading into another strike come August, don't need more enemies at this point.

Still about 1/3 of the teachers in my district are registered republicans.

Bottom line is the NEA is winning all the battles and the feds are in cahoots with them. More and more money being dumped down the black hole of education and more and more federal control over our schools. Until more conservatives become teachers, the NEA will never change and conservatives will continue to lose the battles over education.

Meanwhile, President Bush invited Jimmy Hoffa Jr. to sit with him at the State of Union speech, and this week he has invited 150 of the Teamster leaders to the White House to beg money from them and find out what he can do to please them. The old story: its all right if unions take money from workers if the union is on our side.

"Other than to educate and work with our own members in regards to education-favorable candidates, the NEA does not use its general treasury money to support candidates."

Consider what the NEA is saying: other than to use general treasury money to support candidates, the NEA doesn't use its general treasury money to support candidates! Any student submitting such a total contradiction in terms would merit an F!

I know a few teachers. One of them told me that line "it takes a village to raise a child". I said cool, does that include the village pedaphile, or maybe the village neo-nazi skinhead, or if your really lucky, since I'm in the village, can I decided on how I want to raise your child. Believe it or not, I have yet to get a real response from any of my friends who are teachers when I give that answer.
