I knew I wanted to be a Marine since I was three-years-old. I signed my Delayed Entry Program papers in Oct of my senior year, but in December the Officer Selection Officer (OSO) asked me if I wanted to try for an NROTC Scholarship. I never had any intention of being an officer, and my family was too poor for me to even consider college. I was accepted and attended Iowa State University and OCS, and was commissioned. I owe the Marine Corps a great debt.

. Still on active duty as a Major at Headquarters Marine Corps...my first desk job, and it's killin' me...

Been a lot of places, seen a lot of things... some bad, some good. But I have always served with the finest of men, Marines.

I trust in Jesus as my Lord and Savior...I believe in Duty, Honor, Sacrifice, Integrity...

I believe that there is no substitute for hard work... that pain is a good thing...if no one's shooting at you, there is nothing to stress about...oh yes, and beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy...

Die first, then quit.......

Oh no, those pesky skunks arent back again, Beamer and I have gotten into them a couple times before, mostly down by the barn.

Not to worry, we keep tomato juice on hand in the kitchen just for this event.

I don't know if this has been posted, but I'd like to flag all the Marines if it hasn't.
I went by the Marine Corps recruitment office today, and he asked me if I could walk without the cane......NO, that's not why I went by there!
I went by to get some stickers for my grandson.
During the course of our conversation, he told me that MCRD is NOT going to close up!!
He said the airport had requested the space and the Marine Corps to them to go f*@#*#!*&%#*!(translates to having sex with oneself), no, he said that the Marine Corps had said, "NO!"

I had Priscilla for ohsoclose to 14 years; she was a wedding gift to me from Keith. She was with me through some really rough and turbulent times, and grieved the loss of Keith with me, and was always with me. Always. She had "her" place on the end of the waterbed, and I still feel her presence there. Piper and Wilson get up and all over the waterbed when I'm feeling better than usual, but neither of them will ever lie in Priscilla's "spot." Never, ever. Piper met her, when Pipey was a tiny pup, and Priss was so old and feeble. Piper remembers her, though. She grieved her, after we had to let her go. (Thank God that Bob was with us then; I couldn't have done it alone. Bob and I both stayed with her when she left us. It was one of the worst days of my life. But she's here with me now. I know she is.)
