I'm telling you, my fellow Saints on this (and related) threads: What you see here with posts like "twigs'" here, is simply a veiled attack on our beliefs and our society.

This is the beginning, I think, of a gradual period of "resumed estrangement" that we have been able to dispel over the last few decades.

Our society is becoming so immoral and so decrepit, that we are going to be attacked as a pernicious EVIL so that we don't stand as their reproach.

I have NEVER been more incensed about ANYTHING that I've participated in here on FR, as I am with what is said on these threads.

Illbay- try not to take it personally. There is equal opportunity ignorance among these posts. I'm not a Mormon, but as a Catholic have seen similar bigotry on other threads.

I will read what ever newspaper I want to..I will listen to any radio or tv show I want to...i will read what ever magazine I want to...and I will then decide for myself what is believable

What's refreshing about most of your "fellow saints" is that they understand differences of opinions and do not interpret a questioning of an individual with a challenge to an entire religion. People are trying to sort through what's factual and what's relevant, and everyone I've heard from here has a single goal of trying to SPEED the solution of this crime so that the girl Elizabeth is safe. To introduce the element of religious persecution into this discussion is more than a little bizarre. Look to "fellow saint" Utah Girl for a more rational and sane interpretation of people who disagree with your opinions.

Let them spew, time will show them to be fools and in the meantime they give us the opportunity to counter the false ideas they want to spread. Those with such a deep bias won't be won over by anything and will only belive what they want to belive, but by replying with calm facts we can turn their attacks against into ple' like them are safe from this kind of thing, some of them want to see people more moral than them fall so they can tella chance to dispel myths that more reasonable freepers might hold.

I do think you are right about a growing estrangement, but it isn't just between LDS and non-LDS, but between people who want to follow Christ (including lots of non-LDS) and those who want to follow their lusts. The middle ground is vanishing and everyone has to pick a side. In time society might become so decrepit that we will find ourselves forced to withdraw from it altogether and form our own society. I can see a LOT of good reasons to start that right now even.

Illbay, I did not mean any thing of the kind! I'm talking about the political establishment. I'm on the east coast and I know nothing about what the political establishment in SLC is like. Where I am located, there are deep political relationships that run under the radar, and that was what I was referring to. I have NEVER cast aspersions on anyone's religion.

I do not understand your anger about this thread. If I were broadcoasting for the media, I would never have uttered much of what I think. But I am NOT! This is a forum where people are invited to comment. That's all. Nor do I think that the SLC police have any obligation to tell the public anything other than what will help bring Elizabeth home. I have not liked the media's sense of believing that they have a right to all information. However, as a private citizen, I do have a right to comment on what is public and as I am very interested, and very saddened, by this very public case, I have.
