The scenario that bothers me the most is four or five van loads of these mooks showing up at a suburban shopping mall with AKs and cutting loose on a bunch of soccer moms and their kids.

That might finally bring home the fact that we are really at war. People may quit the political correctness and get serious.

Planes and buildings are one thing, even if they are full of people. Mowing down women and children shopping might unleash a whirlwind of retaliation that leaves the remaining towelheads sleepless a thousand years hence.

Not to mention, CCW is of limited utility against a dozen terrs armed with RPG's and automatic rifles, even assuming they're inept. Better call out the National Guard, and confiscate private weapons.

Government agencies, for years, have calculated "acceptible casualties" based on any senerio. How many schools would be attacked, how many shopping malls, how many churches, how many police ambushed, etc., and what kinds of "measured" responses and where would they be aimed. The one element missing, which is an unknown variable, is "when would local or regional vigalanteism take over and how can it be prevented?"

right.. ok... Then all hell breaks loose, and before you know it China, Russia and whoever else is unloading their nukes on us... That sounds like a great plan. I don't understand why people can't think logically. Sure that would probably put the terrorists in their place, but it would also be the beginning of the end.

That's exactly what would happen.

Forfeiture. Military patrolling the streets. Roadblocks. Internal passports (National ID).

The solution will be worse than the problem, and many Americans won't tolerate it. The terrorists know that, in fact they're counting on it.

The wisest thing to do in such a situation would be to allow American citizens to defend themselves. But given who is in office, I doubt that would happen. Just look at what happened to airlines for example. No guns for pilots, and soldiers in the terminals. We'd just see more of the same.

An e-mail recently making the rounds of military and law enforcement circles describes a captured Al Qaeda training tape said to reveal the group's expertise in small arms and close commando situations in urban settings like New York, Washington, and Chicago.

They might try to pull this in some place like New York City, but around here in the rural South they would be cut down by common folks carrying concealed.
