What makes the MEXICAN SPOTTED OWL different from a regular Owl ?

It carries a green band.

Hey, I want one of those cushy bird survey jobs. I'll sit on my patio with a mai-tai in hand and count all the egrets that gather there. I'll probably qualify for a nice pension, too.

I come cheap. All I need for equipment is a hose and a brush.

Much more tasty.....extra spices like cumin, garlic, and particularly the chilis account for this characteristic.

Some of them, many, in fact, have Red spots.

Like other fauna from their native habitat, they are known to migraste Northward. Be wary, some may be carriers of HPAI.

The regular owl's wings go up-down, up-down, etc., while the Mexican version owl's wings go down-up, down-up, etc.
