My Wife's Nephew attends Calvary , Chuck Smith was the Minister at her Mom's Wedding as well. This is so cool that he said that. He is a fantastic man IMHO....

It *is* my understanding that the child attends public school here in Elk Grove...

That was my understanding as well. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Yes. Without a saving faith in the atonement of Jesus Christ, all of us are lost.

For three year olds??? What do they need to atone for --- spilling milk? That is where I part company with the fundimentalists.

Enjoy your sect and I'll stick with mine.

For three year olds???

It's not anything they did. It's the sin nature they inherited from Adam and Eve.

Honestly, I hope your son continues his dedication to his religion and his God. That is very admirable and you should be proud. But still, he is only 8, and is doing what he thinks pleases you. I don't think at this age he can fully understand or apply what he knows to his life.

The real test will come when he is in his teens, when all kids, no matter how well they were brought up start rebelling and questioning, to some degree, everything. That is normal. I truly hope that phase is easy for you and he doesn't fall prey to all the garbage that's out there. Good luck.

I read elsewhere that Mr. Newdow first filed this suit in Florida in 1999 where it was dismissed. Part of the reason for dismissal was that his daughter was not even old enough to attend school. I think that would put her right around 2nd grade now as has been reported.

What did Christ die for if not to purge that sin?

...Thank God I happened to catch him...!

/Whistle_Blowing>

Foul!!

5 minute penalty for the unconstitional mention of God and thereby implying the existance of a higher power to anyone choosing to believe otherwise...

Kidding of course, I was just in the mood to do that.

Have no fear, though, Ditto. You're not the only one who thinks this whole "original sin" thing is pretty silly. The notion that Adam's and Eve's sin is transmitted to all of humanity is laughable, but what can you expect with the spiritual darkness that is over most of the earth these days?

Sorry. I can't buy that. God makes children perfect. It takes us adults a while to screw them up. 8 years is not enough.

A Child is as you say perfect and protected until they come of age. The exact age of awareness differs from child to child. I was around 14 or 15 when I realised I needed God's grace. Some realise it younger, some older. Each child matures at their own pace. IMHO 8 is aweful young, but I can not imagine the amount of growing up this little girl has had to do lately. I do know that the guardian angels of Children are Very Great to God. These angels are capible of looking upon the face of God, something that most angels can not do (nor you or me). There is a description in the Bible of a great Angel that has 3 sets of wings. One to cover its feet (holy ground), another to fly, Another to cover His eyes from The Almighty God. Childrens angels are "very favored" among God's creations to be able to look upon His Face. (Blessed be Jesus for his love of our Children). Woe is he that messes with an innocent child, cause God has some high positioned angels watching over them.

Of that, I have no doubt.
Along those lines, you have no idea how many times public school supporting parents' suggest the same thing, that my children will have no concept of 'real life', etc...

My reply to them is based on Proverbs 22:6, which says-'Train up your children in the way they should go, and when they are older, they will not depart from it'.

All I want for my children is for them to have a secure, strong foundation firmly set in place early in life.

That way, I know that if they do stray far from their path, [like my husband did in his teens] the foundation being set have now will one day guide them back to rightnousness.

As it did for my husband.

Wait, from my understanding the girl is in 2nd grade.

It might be that the guy has more than one daughter. And that the daughter who is a Christian is older, perhaps from a previous marriage.....Or it could be that this is just a wild rumor.

If either parent is approving of this 4th grader going on national television to denounce her father, that parent is sick and unconcerned with the child's best interests. Since a national TV network would obviously not be interviewing a child of this age without parental approval, and since the agenda behind the interview is consistent with the mother's religious beliefs, I can only conclude that this poor child is being used as a pawn by BOTH her parents -- the father who made her the center of a divisive lawsuit when she's obviously not old enough to have a genuine desire of her own to pursue it, and the mother who hauls her onto national TV to denounce her father.

Tell me how the mother seems to be using the daughter to further her own personal agenda. This ought to be interesting.
