July 9, 2002 -- ON the 4th of July, an Egyptian immigrant to the United States who believes in wild conspiracy theories about Jews, is known for his great "hate for Israel," and has possible ties to al Qaeda, armed himself to the teeth and assaulted the Israeli airline counter at Los Angeles International Airport, killing two.

The time has come for governments to catch up with the rest of us and call terrorism by its rightful name.

This says it all. Add to this list the shooting at LAX on July 4. Government continues to think the public is stupid - while WE are the ones who "get it" - not them.

Pipes is correct here--but we are at war. Suppressing the enemy's ability to score points in the media and damage the economy--as much as blowing up a bridge in the romantic warfare of the pass--with an fear-response from the masses has to be achieved by the good guys. We completely screw the bad guys up when we blur their message.

He found his victims - a van full of Hassidic boys - on the Brooklyn Bridge and fired a hail of bullets against them, killing one boy.

These boys were friends and classmates of my sons, who happened to be riding in a different van that day.

Here's the "rest of the story" that wasn't widely reported:

One of the boys, Nachum Sossonkin, was gravely wounded and lay in a coma for many months. It was predicted that he was permanently brain damaged and would live a vegetative existence. However, Nachum's family and friends did not give up. Thanks to topnotch medical care and the prayers of thousands of wonderful people all over the world (Jews and non-Jews), Nachum made a complete recovery. He is now married and a father of children.

Most of these things happened on CLINTON'S WATCH! If they were; "right-wing religious fanatics"(Waco), little boys from Cuba(Elian), etc., etc., then it would matter.

Pres. Bush PLEASE clean house. I know he has a HUGE job to CLEAN UP A MESS but some people who still don't get it need to go.

"...? Gamil al-Batouti, an EgyptAir copilot, yelled "I put my faith in God's hands" as he crashed a plane leaving Kennedy airport in October 1999, killing 217. Under Egyptian pressure, the National Transportation Safety Board report shied away from once mentioning Batouti's possible terrorist motives. .."

Sorry, this one doesn't belong here.

There's something wrong with the 757-777 series airframe. Gamil al-Batouti was trying to fly a doomed aircraft that would not respond to his control inputs.

Remember what was 'reported'! "Gamil was pushing the yoke foreward, while the Pilot was pulling the yoke back, causing the tail-planes to operate in different directions!"

Incredible bullshit! It simply can't be done! Ask any Pilot...............FRegards

I wonder why "reporters" didn't care to share that?

I think there was one story in the NY Post about the family's bedside vigil when it was still believed that the victim would be a lifelong vegetable. Recoveries like this are long and painful and news media considers such stories "depressing." The recovery, although miraculous, did not happen overnight.

Right now there are dozens of comatose survivors of terror attacks in Israeli hospitals who are being ignored by the media.

Possible causes named include a work dispute and a hate crime.

In the interest of clarity, I have made a solemn promise to myself to never use the phrase "hate crime" in speech or print. From now on, I'll be calling a spade a spade, and using the term "thought crime" in it's place. There's no reasoning with the left, but maybe it's still possible to shame them into a measure of lucid thought.

It is mystifying.
There must be much behind the scenes that we are not aware of; it makes no sense otherwise.

Granted, profound ignorance of Islam is understandable, and a certain amount of denial is natural, since we are dealing with a totally alien paradigm of thinking.
But this is over the top.
When out leaders and our police at all levels are acting like they are still clueless after almost a year since the greatest single Muslim Mass Murder in history, something is terribly wrong.

Standing by to see what the fallout is.
I can only conclude that a real explosion of anger is being "managed", but I can't imagine how putting it off is going to attenuate it at all.

The only language understood by the beast is ruthless and total response. When and where will it happen?

More to the point, where will the next American Mass Murder happen? and whose families will be affected directly?
Everybody taking notes?

Another term for what we are seeing here may be "leaderless resistance". It doesn't involve complicated group actions, just a bunch of individual wing-nuts comitting a lot of solitary mayhem. Simply indoctrinate a generation to hate certain groups of humans (Americans & Jews) like they do in the madrasahs... then send them out as individuals to strike targets of opportunity.

One instance of this, like at LAX, can probably be written off as a "hate crime" as easily as terrorism. However, let's keep an eye out for these small actions, they may be part of a bigger picture. And not all forms of terror are this dramatic, some may just involve disrupting society's infrastructure. In short, that guy that served you the Slurpy at the Quickie-Mart may spend his evenings on the Internet researching areas with drought conditions and fire restrictions in place, in order to start a few major, expensive blazes and completely tie up emergency services for an area. All that takes is a knowledge of wind direction, a box of matches and a drive around some isolated country roads. Think about it

That was exactly the rationale behind the Clinton administration's minimizing of attacks as "isolated incidents." The result? 9/11.

How many human lives are we willing to sacrifice in "suppressing the enemy's ability to score points?"

Consider this (and it is an adapted point of another observation I posted on FR).

If so much as ONE AMERICAN CITIZEN standing in line at a United Airlines counter in Manila, Philippines was gunned down by a lone, Filipino Muslim who was later gunned down, would the US State Department declare that:

HATE CRIME?

ISOLATED INCIDENT?

RANDOM ACT OF VIOLENCE?

America has a terrible double standard that is going to make it an enemy of many good allies. We restrain Israel for going after terrorist cells which we most certainly would have done ourselves. We call terrorism something else because Americans were not killed and it was at a foreign carrier's counter.

We are asking for it in the court of world opinion, IMHO.

We call terrorism something else because Americans were not killed

The same applies to the recent bombing of our embassy in Pakistan; no Americans killed, so the president ignores the fact that American property was destroyed, and Americans targeted, to lament the fact that Muslims were killed by fellow Muslims.

I see no difference in this approach than in Clinton's approach to the embassy bombings and the attack on the Cole. Instead of outrage, we tiptoe through the diplomatic minefield, hoping nothing more blows up until the memory fades.

Perhaps that's the reason these things don't occur in rapid succession -- they can mock the worldest greatest superpower through well-spaced attacks.

The jihadists are merely in the middle of their "random acts of mayhem' campaign. Of course, this isn't terrorism.

I'm convinced that's what's going on. It's the only explanation for this. People who are paying attention know perfectly well, or at least can read the signs, that we have been under attack by Islam for years, if not decades. But govts, not just our own, are unwilling to acknowledge this to their populace, for the reasons you just stated.

You are correct. Western government under liberal ideas of respecting ALL RELIGIONS ended up affording Moslems equality, and protection. The Moslems, in return, took full advantage of the gullible liberal legal/education systems of the west to expand their influence, as well as carry out their hostilities.

In many western countries, forced marriages, and underage marriages are ignored by authorities in order to be sensitive to Islam! Even women abuse by their patriarchal family traditions is ignored.

The west needs to wake up and realize that Islam, as it is practice and preached today must be named an ILLEGAL religion, not compatible with the civilized world. However, if Moslems choose to reform that barbaric, stone-age religion to something like Islam-Light, may be we should allow it in such non-threatening form?

I think giving all the organized hostility from Moslems of late, it is appropriate to call any act of violence by “all” Moslems as terrorism, until proven otherwise. The Israeli guard at the El Al counter should be given a gift from the US taxpayers for saving us the thousands of dollars to imprison—show the prisoner the Qaba direction—hiring a rag-head lawyer—and all the BS that Mousawi is putting us through. The prison guard of Mousawi should find him hanging in his cell, what a loss!

Pipes hits one out of the park again. Though I would add the fire at the Israeli embassy in Paris a couple of months ago.

Great to see him bring up some of the cases we've forgotten about.

Like the Pakistani who killed a few people outside of CIA HQ in the early 90's. That could be classified as an ex-agent or prior asset going nuts over employment issues.

Then why warn people for weeks ahead of time that we are likely to see more terrorist acts, especally on July 4th? It still doesn't make sense. I can only conclude that political correctness is ingrained to such an extent that both government officials and media will grasp at any straw to avoid being accused of being anti-Arab or anti-Muslim.

The autopsy revealed that Jandoubi was wearing two pairs of trousers and four pairs of underpants, which the coroner compared to what is worn by "Islamic militants going into battle or on suicide missions."
What a terrible, bizarre cult Islam is, where Monty Python style comedy and and the most horrific hate-filled violence meet.

I wish more understood this.

The emphasis should be on the fact that we are IN A WAR - a real war.

Which means we are trying to kill them and they are trying to kill us.

I just wish in addition to playing down whatever the terrorists are doing for the purposes you explain well above - we would hear more about how we are succeeding in killing them. THAT is just as important as the above.
