DASCHLE SHOULD MIND HIS OWN BIG BIZ

July 11, 2002 -- THERE'S a distinct whiff of hypocrisy about the Democratic bid - with Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle heading the charge - to paint Bush & Co. as too "cozy" with big business to really crack down on crooked CEOs.

When is he going to start thinking about what is best for the people of this great country instead of what will project his own image.

There must be a way to have this tiny traitor tommy as*hole tried for treason. He has done nothing for this great country or for the people who elected him to perform a job for them and not for himself.

He is a lier, a cheat, a whiner, and totally devoid of any new ideas. He has no leadership ability and would sell out anybody to make himself look good.

And after all that, HE IS STILL TINY.

It smells of hypocrisy because Daschle is pretty cozy with big business himself,

Let's not forget Terry McCauliff and how he put 100k into one of his CEO friends company, Global Crossing, and in about 2 years pulled out 18 million dollars. Certainly there was no insider knowledge in that instance.

Mrs. Daschle, Big Business Lobbyist/Daschle: No Conflict, Won't Release Tax Returns

--------------------------------- Bingaman:

As lobbyist for the telecommunications comet Global Crossing, which went bankrupt last month, she received $2,500,000 for six months' work during 1999.

NY Times

The paper reported that Anne Bingaman's office released a statement in which she stated she, "never met or spoke at any member of Congress or congressional staff on behalf of Global Crossing."

Free Republic Article - 01/29/02

And another FR link with lots of other links about Ms. Bingaman:

Free Republic Article - 01/31/02

Enron should be called "Demron"

Bingaman

As if this was not bad enough, Global Crossing also argued that the FCC should ignore its residual unilateral “regulatory safeguards” (such as benchmarks, for example) - unilateral safeguards that were promulgated under the watch of the very high-powered Washington DC lobbyists that Global Crossing hired to argue hypocritically the exact opposite view.

Source

She was also a Director at McLeod USA (along with Erskine Bowles, of Clinton fame). Got the info from this link. Then did a search and found they declared bankruptcy in Jan '02, 2 days after Global Crossing filed.

Another link that backs up Bingaman's tenure at McLeod USA:

USA Today Article

Also mentioned at that link is one of her current positions at BIA Digital Partners, a communications investment firm funded by the BIA Financial Network. Her bio is listed under Industry Advisors

Virginia Business - Feb 2002

...here's more...she worked for LCI International Telecom Corp. according to her bio above, then I found this little tidbit of info:

LCI International Telecom Corp. d/b/a Qwest Comm.

Source

Qwest has also filed for bankruptcy and is currently being investigated by the DOJ and the SEC and guess who used to be their auditor...you got it...none other than Arthur Anderson. Details can be found at this link

what Congress believed Justice's role would be when it enacted the Telecommunications Act of 1996."

Source

Her full testimony can be found here.

Bingaman played a key role in the development of the Administration's telecommunications policy, including the landmark 1996 Telecommunications Act.

Source

Both of these stories can be found at:

Source

Did Sen. Bingaman or his wife have anything to do with the agreement from Qwest for the Navajoes? Hmmmmm....

Sen. Bingaman was also on the Senate Year 2000 Committee which in 1998 assessed the Y2K status of the telecommunications industry.

And does anyone think it is funny that Global Crossing almost won the award (it got yanked...see the link) for the Defense Information Systems Agency while Sen Bingham sits on the Armed Services Committee?

Their paths just keep on crossing over and over again...

Backhoe - have I told you thank you lately for your incredible links parade!!!! You should be hired by the hapless RNC to do their talking points and provide them with research. And I AM serious.

Thanks to all others for your comments- to Kattracks for your faithful posts - and to the NYPost for being there for all of us at every crunch time along the way - with the truth of the hypocrisy out the kazoo for the Rats.

Appreciate the kind words, and don't forget those tireless posters like JohnHuang2, kattracks, JeanS, Clive, and others who bring this stuff to our attention.

Speaking of this?

You should be hired by the hapless RNC to do their talking points and provide them with research...

I do not understand how the Republicans, the whole dam' Press Corps, and anyone else with a PC and a modem can remain so clueless!

This stuff is out there, free for the asking, to anyone!

I do this stuff while running the household- I'm the househusband around here. All it takes is a few minutes and a little curiousity and persistence.

It smells of hypocrisy

It doesn't just smell - it STINKS.

Fox and Friends was quoting the broker who handled the sale - he said HE approached Bush about selling because he had an institution that wanted to buy the stock. He said he had approached other members of the board, but they didn't want to sell.

He said they got approvals before selling, and reported it as required.

Do you suppose blather et al will report THAT?

Fat chance. I LOATHE the media. I LOATHE tiny tim and most of his cohorts in congress.

Acknowledged - but you are the master researcher - who might want to offer your services for hire - seriously. You could to the work from your home. (Of course, you do it now....)

DrDeb - the RNC needs the likes of Backhoe for opposition research. He is the BEST!

mombonn - am with you on the comments - and on loathing the media and their ratmasters.

Thanks for paying attention. It's nice to see that someone else is. Too bad the press and the Republicans are a bunch of capons. The press is too partisan and too stupid to actually do their jobs. But can't the same be said of the Republicans for not wanting to actually use the truth for the advantage of the country, even if it might mean advancing their political adgenda. Gee...who'd want that?

MacAuliffe and Car-vile will lie and slander to score political points.

The Republicans just slink away from the truth, don't even swing at the T-ball pitches, preferring to say and do nothing.

And the Republicans have the audacity to ask me for a contribution!!!

While I am ( nominally ) a Rep, you might enjoy this letter I sent back to them in their pp envelope:

RNC letter:

15 May, 2002

Mr. Duncan,

I have not left the Republican party so much as they have left me...

I say again:

1- cut taxes & regulations like crazy, so businesses can create jobs and pay better...
2- drill like crazy for gas & oil, encourage Generation III nuclear power plants...
3- rebuild the military

Easy 3-part program for prosperity.

I have not had a job since 1999; my wife's 4 jobs were cut to two due to major surgery- it's kind of hard to find money to give to people who only grow the government more. I want less of this, please.

I'm on Free Republic every day advancing a conservative agenda. And there I will stay until the parties & politicians respond better to ordinary people like me.

FReegards,
JR

Backhoe - I agree 100% with those who say the RNC needs your research skills. I would like to send your Daschle/Bingaman etc. thread to the RNC and STRONGLY suggest they contact you. If you agree and want me to include an address/phone/email where they can contact you, please freepmail me.
