Oliver North: Bin Laden's been dead since December

Former Reagan Administration official Oliver North told Israeli television Saturday night that people he knows fighting in Afghanistan believe Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin-Laden has been dead since December.

Amid conflicting reports about Bin Laden's whereabouts, North was questioned in an interview with Channel One as to whether he believes the terrorist has been defeated.

"My friends on the ground in Afghanistan believe he has been dead since December," North, a retired Marine commander, replied.

North was deputy director of counterintelligence for the National Security Council under Reagan and convicted of fraud in the Iran-Contra "arms-for-hostages" scandal of the late 1980's. He was in Israel this week broadcasting his radio show Radio America from The Jerusalem Post's studios.

One of my best friends is a relative of Larry (O. North). I have met the latter a few times. I know his story in considerable detail. Ollie is right...and an outstanding American. His wife Betsy is an angel. The major media hatchet job notwithstanding.

I would be interested in knowing the sources of your knowledge base in this area.

Reckon ol' larry and his cohorts over at the watch could do a little investigating and find out for sure. Maybe a FOIA to the Al Qaeda followed up by a deposition of bin Laden, etc.

I agree. I followed the Iran-Contra hearings closely. Oliver North is a fine American.

Not really caring about the DOD but I have long since believed that OBL has been dead too...... If I'm wrong I'll be the first to throw him a Happy Resurrection Party complete with the shooting of firearms into he sky Afghanistani style and at any other target wearing towels.....
