Peripheral Query: My wife is convinced (and she got through college as a Cum Laude...I didn't) that Tom Clancy modeled the protagonist and some situations in his novels on North. She thinks Dawn Hall is reflected therein. Any comment?

I'm frankly confused by all this speculation, including high-profile attacks on symbolic occasions. I was under the impression that Al-Queda's modus operandi was to wait for years to allow complacency to settle back in. Bin Laden may be dead, but what of it? If they were still viable, wouldn't a series of false alarms be to Al-Queda's advantage?
