Of course they [ the Communists] were concerned with their own people in, not foreigners out. The guns in the towers were pointed IN no OUT

Yes, I understand that. My point is that it is indeed possible to successfully control large border areas when the proper resources are deployed. Many people maintain that we cannot effectively control our borders with Mexico and Canada because they so large and I think that is a specious argument. With the technology available to us now I think we could seal both borders with a force that be would smaller than 2nd ID in Korea. Of course, it would require the will to use deadly force in order to achieve that objective. The Communists had the will to use deadly force to keep people IN and OUT.

Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else get the feeling that perhaps there is more here than we are being told? Like maybe we're going to get hit by a meteor, a really big one, rather than have the Iraqis, Iranians, North Koreans or Chinese decide to start a nuclear war? Frankly I don't believe any of those nations, on their own, could start a war with us and have a reasonable expectation of winning it. The idea that they would unite and fight us as a front ignores the economic reality of China, the domestic reality of Iran and the fact that the North Koreans are devastated by famine. That leaves the Iraqis and they really are isolated. Something here isn't adding up.

You're right. We've been under nuclear threat since 1948. And now they want to build tent cities? This isn't for a nuclear attack, this is for something else. The Russian government said they expect a "massive population shrinkage" in 2003. The powers that be are expecting something next year. It'd be interesting to know what cities they're planning to evacuate, if it's all coastal cities, then I'd say they've spotted something coming our way that has them very worried.

I think we would have known about a meteor from some private astronomical group by now.

Some travel extremely fast. A meteor beyond Pluto could be here in six months. We didn't see Shoemaker-Levy until it was almost into Jupiter, and probably the only reason we saw it was because it was close to Jupiter.

Any truth to the color coded FEMA detention (concentration) centers?

Maybe the gubment is hesitant (read: scared) to tell us the truth. Figure we'll all freak-out.

Right again. If the government knew we were going to be hit with something, there's no way they could tell us. Half the people would be dead from rioting before the thing arrived.

Because of PC, all sin is endorced, I'm a little concerned this could be the US.

The U.S. isn't Mystery Babylon. Mystery Babylon has been around since the original Babylon. The bible specfically says that Mystery Babylon is guilty of killing the prophets. The U.S. didn't kill the prophets.

The Russian government said they expect a "massive population shrinkage" in 2003.

My, that statement has a cold, hard feel to it. Doesn't it?

A lurker to this thread sent me a letter talking about planet X and that NASA has been tracking it for about six months now. Said it will be visible to the naked eye this fall between midnight and dawn, then visible between dusk and dawn after January 2003.

Gave me a bunch of website links, too.

Haven't read them yet. Not sure my nerves can take it.

The last time planet X was around was 3600 BCE. The result was a whole lot of civilizations collapsed and whole populations died out.

The 12th planet is due in 2003, if it's real.

It's hidden by the sun right now if it's where it should be. It'll emerge in October if it's there.

Yes, but it is Russia, it could've been political bluster. Just a piece of circumstantial evidence to add to the pile to take for what it's worth.

I've been keeping tabs on the reports. Lots of funny stuff going on. Astronomers have been dieing before their time. Shoemaker died in a car wreck on the back roads of Australia in '97 at 67. Sagan died of cancer in '96 at 62. 23 workers in 2 separate accidents months apart were killed at the same observatory in a helicopter crash in one accident and a cable car crash in another when it came loose from it's cable at the IRAM observatory in the French Alps. Some observatories are closed this year for "upgrades".

1560 B.C. was the time of the ten plagues of Egypt. Meteor showers, red rivers, darkness, Thera erupted, etc. The Sumerians said it was on a ~3600 year orbit. If it exists and brought with it the ten plagues of Egypt, it's due. Interesting enough, Hale Bopp was on a 3600 year orbit, I believe.

Emerge into view of astronomers, that is.

I went to those web sites and the news was depressing.

I'll have to sell my home on the coast and move to eastern Wyoming, get above sea-flooding levels when the ice caps melt. Once in Wyoming I'll have to build a bunker and learn to grow my own food.

Shoot. I quess that means no more Starbucks and Hagen-Daz.

There's one thing to watch out for: The date. The Russian report and this report are the only two more solid pieces of circumstancial evidence I've been able to find that shows something may be up some time next year. There is a report that there are no NASA launches planned beyond 2003, but I haven't seen that for myself. The Russian report may be political hyperbole and this story may actually be legit for multiple terrorist attacks. Everything else I've read has been a case of 'this guy in the government secretly told me early to mid 2003' or 'I heard these two high ranking military guys in a bar say Seattle is toast next year' or 'psychics, dreamers, and astrologers say early to mid 2003' kind of stuff.

This would explain a lot things that I've had questions all my life about like:

How could subterrainian waters flood the earth as the bible says happened in Noah's flood?
Plato says the earth has been flooded many times. How?
Why did a planet break apart between Mars and Jupiter?
Why is Uranus on it's side?
Why were ancient people so afraid of comets? (This thing would look like a comet.)
Why do the ancients have stories of Mars and Venus moving around all over the place in the sky?
How are the disasters of Revelation going to take place?
Why were the mammoths, that are being found in the arctic, flash frozen with tropical plants in their mouths?
Why did the ancients think they had to coax the sun into rising?

I found this article a couple days ago myself and was curious. I started doing some investigation myself. I actually came here to FR to look to see what sort of comments people had provided and evidence for, or against. Surpisingly, I see almost nothing (with one exception of looking up the contract information on buying large numbers of tents- thanks to whomever that was).

I read through a couple times and decided that (after I'd already posted this on my own survival site) I should probably verify the information. Here is what I have found:

1) Called NewsMax customer service, asked for "verification" of the article. They told me it was a real article submitting by John O. Edwards. His contact information is listed as "private", so I can not contact him directly. This tells me he is also "freelance" since I could have contacted others on the staff directly. I wrote a note to him, sent via the newsmax publisher requesting more information and backup documentation. So far, no answer.

2) I contacted a friend of mine in DC that has direct contact with FEMA (yes, I have good connections sometimes). I've asked for them to verify the points in the article one way or the other (true or false). They have yet to get back to me.

3) I contacted the local Sheriff's Office and showed them the article. They were unaware of any "plans" right now, and since they are in charge of the Office of Emergency Management, locally - someone with whom I have contact on and off - I asked them to give me a contact name there I could speak to. Got it. As an aside, the Sheriff's office ASSURED me they have enough officers to "protect the citizens of El Paso County Colorado". I stated to them that was good, and we appreciated it, but just in case, many of us are "armed citizens and we will certainly be happy to watch your backs". The guy thought about it a few seconds and then said, "Ah... I know most of our officers appreciate you folks." :)

4) Contacted the OEM, spoke to "Jim". Jim said he was unaware of such a thing being prepared and wondered why people would move out of a city with some shelter, even after an attack, to "tents on the plains or desert". He said it sounded bogus, but he would read the article and get back to me on anything that he could find out. He knows who I am, by the way - I did not know him, but when he heard my name he knew of my association with Amateur Radio, a previous political foray and he knew of my web site... I guess I am more 'famous' than I thought. (Laughs). Anyway - he has nothing further. He gave me the number to FEMA, Region 8 offices in Denver.

5) I contacted the FEMA manager in Denver - or A manager, who would not comment, but put me through to the office of Public Affairs. The local "newsies" of the agency. I spoke to "Jerome", who explained to me that he had not seen such an article cross his desk and was not aware of any such plans. I quizzed him on Presidential Directives, and he stated they are listed on the FEMA site (they are, I had already gone through the site for the last two days). There is no Presidential Directive specifically stating that this should take place.

Further, he did tell me he would contact me shortly, after he reviewed the article (which I sent him, the article and the link to the newsmax site). He said if there IS any truth to the article, the information simply may not have yet filtered down... with a "you know how it is...." remark. (Yes, I do, I work for the govt now a days as a contractor and the crap people walk through and the hoops through which they jump are simply amazing).

So, at this point, I've not be able to learn "ANYTHING" new. But, I did go through the steps and I'm hoping that one of the groups or agencies I've contacted WILL come back with something tangible OR they will give me some facts that prove the artile is hype. I'll post more, when I get more (IF I get more).

So far, not a darned thing. I've not been able to verify the story AT ALL. I DID get a message from one of my folks who is intel in DC. His quote was, "Oh, this is part of the President's Directive on Homeland Security".

That COULD confirm it - to an extent, as far as "yes something is going on". Specifics remain to be seen.
