Schundler is back; not all in GOP are thrilled

The Republican shows signs of repeating his run for governor, a run that stepped on party toes.

For most politicians, a defeat as one-sided as Bret Schundler's in the 2001 New Jersey governor's race would be humbling enough to send them looking for another line of work.

Or at least cause them to lie low for a while.

Run for the same office next time around? No chance.

That's what the Republican establishment had hoped about the renegade who captured the party's most coveted nomination and then became cannon fodder for the Democrats in November.

The New Jersey RINOs just don't get it. Schundler will win next time.

In doing so, he is creating a headache for a state Republican Party that wants to reclaim the moderate image it had cultivated for so many years.

The GOP in New Jersey was hijacked by the scumbags long ago.
I hope Bret can take it back. Go, Bret, go!

By the way, this author appears to be puking back exactly what he is fed by the Party machinery. Remember - - this article is from one of the most vile, left-wing toilet papers in the country, the Philadelphia Inquirer (the "Stinky"). Fact is, during the last campaign, the scumbag RINOs in New Jersey were so PO'd that their good 'ole boy (Bob Franks) was beaten by Bret in the primary that they basically cut him loose and gave him almost no support in the general election. Heck, the incumbent Republican governor, DiFrancesco, wouldn't even endorse Bret! And now they're acting all indignant that Bret dares to come back after getting trounced? Hey Bret - - tell the scumbags to drop dead.

Bret got his clock cleaned as they say, because the establishment pubbies (RINOs) abandoned him and some even supported the DIM. Why is it that conservative pubbies are expected to hold their nose and vote for RINOS, but RINOs would rather have the dim???? (Maybe because the DIMS are who they *really* support????)

Bret's campaign fizzled after the primary. In part due to the party hatred of him and in part because he couldn't get on message. The most visible part of his campaign after the primary was the drive to get rid of parkway tolls. It didn't resonate, and the parts of his message that would have resonated did not get any attention.

Hopefully he will run again, win the primary and get the message out this time. He definately has a winning message. McGreedy is proving to be Flim-Flam Florio II and businesses are on the verge of exiting the state. Everyday the papers (even the liberal ones) carry more bad news about McGreedy's administration. He has been a disaster so far. The stage may be set for a conservative/libertarian candidate such as Schundler to win. (From my mouth to God's ears)

They not only attacked him but oppenly supported Mc Greedy in the press. The GOP appointee who took over christy wittmans job even cameout and attacked him. He was screwed by the RINOs. It is a perfect example of the RINO's in the northeast who want conservative votes but will not accept one in office.

I voted for him last time, but hope to abandon NJ before the next election. He would bring integrity to Trenton. The Democrats and the Republicans fear him. He would shake things up.

The Inquirer always endorses left-wing liberals be they left-wing Democrats or RINOs. That crap paper also ALWAYS comes out in favor of tax increases.

A moderate image that transformed New Jersey from a state that would consistently go Republican in Presidential elections (1968-1988), would occasionally have a Republican governor or a Republican Senator, to one where Democrats will generally win the Presidential Electoral votes, the Governorship, and both Senate seats.

The first thing Bret should do is ignore Paltucci and the rest of the RINO's. Remember the excellent job that Palatucci did for Bob Dole!

Brest lost because he took the summer off after the primary, instead of continuing the winning momentum that he achieved in the primary.

Bret also had many RINO's on his campaign staff, principally the policy makers.

After getting my new Auto Insurance quote and my new real estate tax bill, I am tempted to join you, but I am born and bred here and am willing to pay the price to stay.

If we can get the state back from its leftward slide, NJ will be a nicer place to live. I am not desparing yet.

"Some GOP officials, trying to move Schundler out of the picture, implored President Bush to offer him a job in Washington."

I can't decide which disgusts me more. The fact that these RINO's are trying to kick Schundler out or that Bush will probably do with glee what they ask.

I think the RINO's are going to be in for a big surprise next year. We conservatives are mad as hell.

Funny...here in Tennessee, politicians are fighting with each other to prove that THEY are MORE conservative than their "worthy opponent". Karl Rove and his RINO lapdogs in the northeast wouldn't care much for Tennessee.

The Philadelphia Inquirer too? Earlier I saw that a Newsday article had to be edited on FR for the same reason. How many newspapers are affiliated with the LA Times and Washingtong Post?

Bret Schundler would do well to take a page out of McGreevey's playbook and start his campaign for the 2005 gubernatorial election right now. In addition to giving him the opportunity to hammer McGreevey's inept performance on a regular basis, it will help him guarantee that he will be the only real Republican candidate when 2005 rolls around.

When it comes to plugging and supporting liberal Democrats you can count on every major daily newspaper on the I-95 corridor.
