Yes--I had either a "shunt" or a "stent" put in--never got straight which one it is.
I have been taking the baby aspirin daily for years, also--but that didn't seem to ward off the attack. (It might have postponed it for years, though--who knows?)
Tomorrow, we are going to the treadmill store. I've been given reams of material to read about proper exercise.

Dunno 'bout warts off a hog, which seems like it might actually be a good thing, but I know that I am SO happy to see you posting that I don't think you could bore me if you tried! BIG HUG!

SWALLOW ONE WHOLE GENUINE ASPIRIN!!! After four hear catheritizations in the last year, I'd like to modify your advice.
IF YOU CAN, CHEW THE ASPIRIN UP AND WASH IT DOWN WITH WATER.
It's the fastest way to get it working. I can vouch for basil in saying it probably saved me from heart damage during my multiple problems.

Oh My friend Basil, the way you so eloquently wrote this, I smiled, laughed and cried... I'M SO GLAD YOU'RE HOME and that you knew about the aspirin..you will remain on my prayer list...

Glad you're still with us. That episode you may safely call a bullet dodged.

No water--just the aspirin. I don't know if that's good or bad--I often swallow a pill without water.
I hadn't gotten as far as a thread, Aussie, so can't blame it on anyone here--LOL!

Thank God you have come through your experience with flying colors and seem back to your old Freeper self. This was one of the most gripping personal narratives in recent memory--and your aspirin advice is most likely permanently stamped into many memory banks because of your skill in recapturing the event.
Glenn's advice in #43 to crush the aspirin first to hurry it along is good. Wonder if there is some kind of equivalent liquid aspirin solution that is sold or that can be homemade? Probably needs to be in carefully sealed container to avoid deteriorating.
Looking forward to your posts in the years ahead.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Continued prayers for your full recovery.
I will always carry aspirins in my purse.

WOW! On the same day, I missed a person having a heart attack by MINUTES. I had to leave a meeting I was attending in the early evening. The next day, I learned that one of the meeting participants had had a heart attack after I left.
Funny thing, but I immediately asked if they gave him an aspirin. They said, "no," but the ambulance got there within a few minutes.
I haven't heard the latest on the patient but I believe he's doing OK.

I am so glad this post had a wonderful outcome! Thank God for the brilliant cardiologist and the skilled techs. Wonderful post! Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Actually, doctors are recommending low dose aspirin for daily prophylactic use. Low dose works better than a whole aspirin.

I had no idea. I sent your funny but true story to a friend who has had two attacks. I was thinking of writing you and asking if your Arcata-married daughter was doing well. Now you have another one married off. Erik sold his built house in West Haven. But still no wife. We are still planning a winter trip to include Austin. Stay well. Lift weights.
