When we teed off on the House Republicans' prescription drug bill last month, the Democratic Leadership Council could barely contain its "joy with at long last finding common ground with the Journal editorial page." Well, we hope the DLC will also be with us now in opposing Tom Daschle's plan to spend two weeks pushing a phony drug plan in the Senate.

This is more than that - Daschle is holding up a bill that has a good chance of passing in favor of a bill that probably won't, purely to gain an issue for the upcoming elections. I hope the folks in South Dakota are watching.
This whole editorial needs to be summed up in the best "bumper sticker" style and repeated over and over...and over! (sigh...and no offense meant to seniors in general...)
Therefore, it seems to me that Insurance Companies should be encouraged and reimbursed by medicare to sell drug coverage policies at an affordable premium to seniors. To have both A and B medicare coverage costs $50.00 per month, deducted from SSI payments. Why couldn't a drug policy be made available the same way?
Well, I don't agree! Why does being over a certain age give one the right to use government force to pick your neighbors' pocket? Besides that, government involvement ALWAYS makes a situation worse! The reason health care is so screwed up is that government is exerting more and more control and regulation. As in everything else the politicians and bureaucrats touch, it is turning to crap. Prices will increase; quality and supply will decrease. Do we really want our health care system to end up working like the department of motor vehicles? Well, that's the road we're on, folks.
Oh, I don't know. I'm not all that bad. Sometimes I'm kinda fun. :)
