USO Canteen FReeper FRiday....ALOHA RONNIE.......July 19,2002

.
If you know a Veteran, someone in your family, friend of the family, neighbor, who served their country, take a brief moment of your day to thank them. Thank them for the sacrifice they made for the better good of their country.
We at Free Republic, and the USO Canteen FReeper Style, are thankful for every service member in our military, who has served our great nation.
So, to the men and women who answered the call, in both times of war and peace, thank you.
.
Message from Snow Bunny to all those who visit the Canteen.
This is how I think of the USO Canteen Freeper Style. It is like a cottage down a road, a place where a weary veteran can spend the night.
Since it opened, it is magical how so many Freepers who post here, feel it too. It has been so dear how the Freepers kept making it a cottage - a home-type of place that had a huge living room for them to visit in and a dance floor, a library, etc.
Many Veterans have written to me, saying that the Canteen is like home to them for the first time since they served.
This is your Canteen - a respite from our busy and sometimes troubling world. Make yourself at home.

The USO Canteen Honors FReepers who have served, or are now serving their country.
.
You may have a loved one who has served in the past. We at the FReeper USO Canteen would like to honor each and every one.

Hi Misty. Yes, it's AC's birthday, but he was getting sleepy from riding his new bike during the afternoon, you know how little kids are so excitable, and then he had his birthday party and ate cake and play with the balloons and he got really tired. He should be back tomorrow, I hope.
To: AntiJen
Me too Jen! Behind and hustling as fast as I can to catch up! :)

Shucks, didn't even pay attention to the post number...
Sent that sentiment out to SAM, and then went to the kitchen to clean up after supper.
OBTW, who left all those dishes in the sink? The dishwasher isn't broken, is it?

OMG, that is just awful! The very first homicide my husband worked on as a homicide investigator was a child about Samantha's age. A woman killed a little boy named Javier Angel. I will never forget it.....so senseless and stupid! She was here from Mexico and she chose this poor child to torment. As the trial went on I couldn't imagine the strength the parents had to muster to sit through it! I kept wondering how on earth, if someone had killed my child, could I sit there day after day without screaming my lungs out at the person who did it! The murder of a child....there are just no words to express the horror of it all, and I am so very sorry that you are one of those people who has had to experience such a thing. God Bless you.
