Foster Professorship
Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
June 28, 1998 (Features, D2)
A black-tie dinner June 19 in Josephine's River Ballroom at Arkansas' Excelsior Hotel celebrated the establishment of the Vincent Foster Professorship of Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility at the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville. "This is a special night," said Dean Leonard Strickman, explaining that the project to finance the professorship has taken about four years. It will have been five years next month since Foster died. Strickman and his wife, Danielle, hosted the evening with Lisa Foster Moody and Judge Jim Moody and her children Vincent III of Atlanta, Laura, a Fayetteville law student, and Brugh Foster of Lexington, Va., a recent graduate of Washington and Lee University.
After a reception in the lounge, the 120 guests were seated in the room overlooking the Arkansas River at tables centered with bouquets of alstroemeria lilies and gerbera daisies. The menu included wild mushroom soup, Cajun chicken, and New York cheesecake. Howard Brill, who has been designated as the first Vincent Foster Professor, spoke to the group along with Vince III and Strickman. Each guest received a reprint of the commencement address Vince Foster gave May 8, 1993, at the law school.
