Oh No! The main Druid monastery is in danger!

BTW: Don't cedars need fire to open up the cones so new trees can grow? I seem to remember this from grade school.

It'll be interesting to see if the "let it burn" crowd will turn up.

"These Green Jihadists are more dangerous to most Americans than the al Qaeda thugs and terrorists. The Green Jihadists can harm Americans and commit economic eco terrorism 24/7 with their agendas. It takes years for the al Qaeda thugs to set up a successful act of terrorism."

When is this country going to tell the damn greenies to get fu*ked and leave us alone?

When is this country going to say enough is enough, and stop engaging these traitors in debate?

Giving these monkeys a place at the bargaining table is like negotiating with a rapist/abductor to only take one of your children.

The country is literally going up in smoke thanks to these bolsheviks, and that's not even considering the thousands of lives disrupted if not outright destroyed by these scumbags, as they play the government like a fiddle for the purpose of stealing land from beneath farmers and homeowners in a modern theft-by-conversion game.

I'll know there's hope for this country when I see statesmen rise up to drive these saboteurs out on a rail. Until then, it's all window dressing.

RE. #13. Great letter. But they won't listen.

I don't expect the most radical to listen. I want their more trainable supporters. That's how we win this thing. I also want to teach conservatives how to respond.

Remember, as with any political campaign, negatives are the key. If we can plant two ideas, that the system is corrupt and incompetent, we can this thing if we can present a thoughtful alternative.

When forest land east of the Mississippi River starts going up in smoke. Not before.

Here is one of the prime problems with the envirals, senators like Da$$hole.

Da$$hole, Boxer, ChiFiFrankestein and other rat senators have endorsed no roads, no removal of dead trees and no brush removal in our forests and national parks. This has made every forest and national park a tinder box ready to explode. This tinder boxing was enabled by the Clintoon.

Here is a link to Da$$hole quietly trying to get an exemption in his home state to allow logging to prevent this tinder box situation. However, he only wants it in his home state. (link)

Daschle seeks environmental exemption Washington Times | 7/24/02 | Audrey Hudson

Posted on 07/24/2002 10:29 AM Pacific by purplegirl

Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle quietly slipped into a spending bill language exempting his home state of South Dakota from environmental regulations and lawsuits, in order to allow logging in an effort to prevent forest fires.

The move discovered yesterday by fellow lawmakers angered Western legislators whose states were forced to obey those same rules as they battled catastrophic wildfires.

"What's good for the Black Hills should be good for every forest in the United States," said Sen. Larry E. Craig, Idaho Republican and chairman of the Senate Republican Policy Committee.

Mr. Daschle, a Democrat, said the language to expedite logging is essential to reduce the timber growth that can fuel wildfires.

"As we have seen in the last several weeks, the fire danger in the Black Hills is high and we need to get crews on the ground as soon as possible to reduce this risk and protect property and lives," Mr. Daschle said in a statement late Monday night after a House-Senate conference committee agreed on the language.

The language was tucked inside the defense supplemental spending bill, which passed the House last night by a 397-32 vote. The overall measure, which spends $29 billion, will be taken up by the Senate today. The provision says that "due to extraordinary circumstances," timber activities will be exempt from the National Forest Management Act and National Environmental Policy Act, is not subject to notice, comment or appeal requirements under the Appeals Reform Act, and is not subject to judicial review by any U.S. court.

More than 20 lawsuits, appeals or reviews are blocking timber projects to remove fuel from the Black Hills — some bottled up in bureaucracy since 1985, say Republican aides.

"After hearing all the hand-wringing from environmentalists downplaying the impact of appeals and litigation, it's nice to see that the highest-ranking Democrat in the nation agrees that these frivolous challenges have totally crippled forest managers," said Rep. Scott McInnis, Colorado Republican and chairman of the House Resources subcommittee on forests and forest health.

The giant sequoias are known for their ability to survive forest fire. Guess we'll find out if that is a true fact.

"If we can plant two ideas, that the system is corrupt and incompetent..."

It sure sounds easy when you put it that way.

I mean, how hard can it be to convince someone of that...;^)

Corrupt and incompetent...what's to argue?

How many of the fires in Utah are the result of the no roads, no thinning of brush and as in this link of yours no harvesting of dead trees?

Dave, i wish i knew. how much dead undergrowth has stayed where it fell due to lawsuits?

how many roads have been closed, and firebreaks abandoned?

how many old forest stands have been allowed to turn into powder kegs due to the meddling
of these terrorist bastards?

it's nonstop, and we cash poor western states are losing the world enviral war, being driven by
the UN's socialist minions' screw America agenda.

The Forest Dept, and the EPA, need to be history. They are not worth the salt it would take to save them. Nothing in D.C. works as intended. Get the power out of D.C. and back into the individual states. There is no saving D.C., it's a power mad gonner.

Quite a few are roadless forests. We saw some big fires recently in mid-Utah areas that are inacessible except by copter. The forests were burning fast and the locals told us that firefighters were unable to reach the fires.

The fire that impressed us most was the big one that burned huge tracts of forest around the North Rim of the Grand Canyon last year. The forests there were full of dead trees, brush and dead grasses--it was a fire bomb waiting to go off. There are several roads in the area, some with the blackened images of burning tree trunks left in the asfalt. The Forest service claimed the fire was a "natural event" used by nature to "cleanse the forest." It was so disgusting, it ruined our trip to the Rim.

Actually it's Pine Trees. Several species require intensive heat to open and release their seeds.

Fire is the process by which these trees renew themselves.

Thanks for the feed back. I wondered how much effect Robert Redford has had in creating these tinder boxes around Utah.

I'm so tired of this response from the Druid Florist Service Nuns, "The Forest service claimed the fire was a "natural event" used by nature to "cleanse the forest." It was so disgusting, it ruined our trip to the Rim.

Death due to an infection from a microbe or a virus is a normal event. However, we work hard to prevent this normal event from happening. This is what man can do, is prevent these normal events or limit their size and scope. Fire has been a historical event in this country. However, when we settled it and made our towns and cities, our ancestors set up controls and ways to minimize huge disasters.

Thanks for the feedback and stay safe.

Robert Redford and his enviral ilk have removed man's control over these events to allow nature to create these dangerous normal events.

"fed by underbrush"

But, gee...wildfires make healthier forests!

I would really like to know who this woman is who's suspected of STARTING this fire....

I can't imagine an enviro wacko started it....perhaps a terrorist or terrorist collaborator...they DID threaten to burn our symbols.

"It will be a climax of 300- or 400-foot flame..."

Well, this is going to sound really bad, but can you imagine what that would look like on videotape from a Helicopter? How about from a satellite using the 10, 25 or 100 meter wide range?I mean if it's a possibility, they might as well film it.

...Just in case we need this later...UPDATE, from Fox News...relevant excerpt:

A 45-year-old woman was taken into custody Wednesday at her Bakersfield home on suspicion of causing the blaze, Forest Service officer Brian Adams said. He said authorities tracked her down from witness descriptions...(snip)

Adams said the woman arrested Monday went into a store Sunday and said she needed help because she had been cooking hot dogs and her camp fire had blown out of control. The woman had been camping by a lodge, and minutes after she made her declaration and left, the lodge burned, he said.

Link to entire article,

Camper Arrested as Hundreds Battle to Save Giant Sequoia Trees From Wildfire

...which I hope they don't archive too soon. I am GUESSING that the woman who was arrested TODAY went into the lodge on MONDAY with the story that her campfire had burned out of control...minutes before the lodge burned down.
