Hey, you know what?? I don't see any of those insulting and obnoxious "fires are GOOD for forests...they're nature's way of making the forest HEALTHY" posts...perhaps the potential loss of our oldest growth forest has even the envirowackos tongue tied??

"When forest land east of the Mississippi River starts going up in smoke. Not before"

In a lot of states East of the Mississippi, the envirowackos haven't done as much damage to timber management practices. There's a reason that there are few wildfires in PA, for instance, and that those are put out quickly.

The satellite photo shows quite a plume of smoke no doubt containing CO2 and soot. Let's see if anyone has a guestimate comparing the limits Gray Doofus just signed into law and that released by 57000 acres of burnt timberland. If CO2's so bad, why does the sIERRA cLUB have the fire policy as posted by Carry_Okie (or is there 'good CO2' and 'bad CO2'?)
BTW, The sunset on the Klamath Saturday evening was spectacular, C/O the Oregon fires and a south wind.

This is a great question, and I defer to Carry Okie's wisdom and scientific knowledge about the CO2 released by this one fire:

Your statement/question:

The most incredible sunsets that we have ever seen was 3 years ago in September. That long uncontrolled fire in the Klamath region had smoke from Eureka to Crescent City going out over the ocean. We were staying in Brookings and went every night to Harris Beach, the upper parking areas to watch the sunsets. Due to the smoke going out into the ocean from the SES heading NWN, the sunsets were incredible.

How is the fishing in the Klamath this past week?

We left Tuesday morning and I must confess that I didn't wet a line. Since I lost my thermometer to a steak a few months ago I couldn't get a real measurement but the water temp. was high. I'd guess that it was approaching 80.
