Hoping that the growing public discontent with Wall Street can be translated into anger toward Albany, Andrew Cuomo yesterday proposed that New York State only do business with companies free of the incestuous management practices blamed for the fall of Enron, WorldCom and other recently disgraced corporations.
In a speech in midtown Manhattan, Cuomo, a Democratic candidate for governor, argued that the state should play a more active role in preventing and ferreting out the corporate abuses that have rattled the nation's equity markets and upset investors across the country.
