2,000-year-old 6ft 6ins warrior giant discovered
The remains of an enormous warrior who fought more than 2,000 years ago have been found in Kazakhstan.
The soldier was heavily armed and stood around 6ft 6ins tall.
Archaeologists believe he was well-built and revered by people who buried him with his weapons.
The BBC says the warrior lived around the first century BC.
Historians say this may lead them to re-examine the origins of the region's people.

You know, I was just reading and article about that new skull they found (Sahelanthropus tchadensis). Says they found pieces of the skull and some teeth. Also says the animal walked upright. Can't figure how they got that out of the skull and some teeth.

One way would be to examine how the spine fit into the skull...there is a vast difference in the junction between quad and bipeds.

Goliath?
Very doubtfull....the story of David and Goliath supposedly happened long before the birth of Christ.

That is probably it. Hard to tell if that part of the skull is present from the picture. There may be a picture posted on the earlier threads.

If the skull was intact, then they would have the position of the foramen magnum - - -that's the opening underneath the skull that attaches to the spinal column. In humans, it is centrally located for balance of the skull during bipedal walking- - -the skull sits right on top of the opening. In apes and other mammals, it is positioned farther back on ther skull to accomodate quadrupedal movement.

Can't figure how they got that out of the skull and some teeth. The muscle attachments leave "scars" on the skull. That then shows how the head was mounted on the spine and anchored to the shoulders. That make upright carraige relatively easy to spot.
