Rev. Jesse Jackson calls off meeting with Hamas head after University bombing

U.S. civil rights leader Jesse Jackson cancelled a planned meeting with Hamas spiritual leader Sheik Ahmed Yassin after the Hamas claimed responsibility for Wednesday's terror attack at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Jackson was to go to Gaza to meet with Yassin after seeing Arafat in Ramallah, but in the wake of the bombing, the visit was canceled. Hamas officials said Jackson called off the trip.

Hamas spiritual leader Sheik Ahmed Yassin linked the bombing to Israel's air strike in Gaza last week that killed Hamas military commander Salah Shehadeh and 14 other people.

"When Israel bombs a civilian building full of women and children, and kills 15 people, this is the response they should expect," Yassin told AP Television News. "Today's Israeli government should bear responsibility."

Just before the attack, Arafat held a joint news conference with Jackson. Arafat said Palestinian authorities were "continuing our efforts, and will continue, from every aspect, to stop the violence."

The only reason he didn't go is because the state department had him stopped at the checkpoint. I think they also arranged to have him taken to the hospital so he could see with his own eyes the carnage that was caused. FOX interviewed him right afterwards and he was still pretty shook up by what he saw.

I don't for a minute think that will stop him though. He's in this for the money.

Ah yes, the brave revrunt boldly hides under his bed again. What a long trip it's been for Jesse, from '60's rebel without a clue to today's Rev. without a church. "Civil rights leader" my foot. He couldn't lead a gang of teenage boys into a whorehouse.

What was he going to do with a Hamas cult leader anyway?

Same as with any cult leader. Have a good old time.
