Barbara Stanley: The Party Of The 'Common Man' Is Laughing All The Way To The Bank

The trend of the blatant, in-your-stupid-face attitude of the Democrats that Clinton gave us so well, when he looked us in the eye and lied through his teeth, is back in full force yet again. Or perhaps, that should be: still.

I have been watching Harvey L. Pitt, SEC Chairman treated less than either politely or fairly by the media and at the very same time, as one of the good guys, is being skewered for his inheritance of corruption (brought to us courtesy of the very same party of the little guy as they have named: Joe Six-pack. What cheek) also in my face is the utter glee that the economy is hurting good people and is nothing more than political fodder for the attack against Bush. Ah, finally the Democrats have an issue they can name albatross and hang around W.´s neck.

Kinda odd behavior for those who say they are for the working man. That workingman now has lost his retirement; anticipated, dreamt of, planned for in a couple of years. That working man will not catch a break for squirreling away money with the help of the Democrat´s 401K piggy bank. He will not get to awaken when he wants, perhaps find a love of another kind of work, a part time job he really has knack for and he can just kiss goodbye a little home business. His wife will not get a break; his kids will have a harder time with college or starting an e- business of their own.

There go the improvements to the house that are so badly needed; forget about the new car or appliances. And just as a tax cut spurs jobs and growth in the economy, the opposite of the market´s bleeding is felt in the hearts of every ‘little´ man. Like revisiting the accident scene or the cemetery, the democrats will bring this to us everyday from now until the election, if they can.

And that´s the big ‘if´ here; the key word in that sentence. So far, no matter how unpatriotic the Dems are, no mind how they fling up their arms, rage and flail about, mewling about how corrupt everything is (yeah, whatta laugh coming from the very ones who created the mess), they have been unsuccessful.

It is the height of cheek that Hillary Rodham Clinton has remarked that the blame for all the economic woe sits with Bush. "It's harder to imagine a faster, more heartbreaking turnaround than the one we've seen," she said. Completely ignoring the fact that the downturn began during the end of her husband´s last term, the woman-who-lies continued: "If all of the arrows that were pointing up are now pointing down, and those that were headed down are going back up, blame cannot and should not be placed at the feet of those who led our nation during one of the greatest periods of prosperity and progress in our nation." Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (July 2002)

Interestingly, when she finally decides to place blame, she misses the target completely. She fails, yet again, to tell the truth, a trait we have come to know both she and her husband have perfected and the democrat party has adopted. We, who have been paying attention, saw what her husband and co-president´s largest and retroactive tax hike did to the Reagan recovery… practically strangled it in the nursery. Not until the republicans took over Congress did the market rise and keep rising, right through the bubble of tech to the recent cleaning.

Their failure is manifold: they are corrupt in the same ways themselves, e.g. Terry McAuliffe, head guy at the DNC (motto: “As long as it´s green, no matter if from the enemy, the whorehouses of Macao or the theft of the little guy, as long as it´s green”) who not only has Global Crossings under his belt (he put in a thumb and pulled out a multimillion dollar plum) but a phony bank in his recent past. They are not only culpable but they are out of step with the American people. We are not as dumb as they think we are and we are not fooled.

Lord knows, W. appears to falter from time to time (military tech to China?) and he may be out of the loop as far as what Colin Powell is up to at State with his NWO agenda; he may be influenced by some who give bad advice or mislead. But when he is touched by the Hand of G-d, he is powerful, inspirational and sustaining. Something, in spite of all the conspiracy theories that make some sense, keeps us supportive. It´s so much easier to blame and point fingers, harder to keep the faith. But yet, we do have faith that a decent man, albeit at times misguided or seemingly misdirected, is still better at the helm than a liar and man who was in bed with the Riadhy´s for over twenty years, Al Gore. The liberal media may have passed off the ‘boy scout´ image on Al, but he has been involved behind the scenes for years and years, his legacy you might say, from a family who made their fortune on tobacco then had Al later cry about his sister´s death from smoking too much. Please, do any of us really believe that deathbed conversation, so politically in-tuned, Al said he had with her?

For me, it´s simple for I am a simple woman. If the Democrats are so tickled pink at the expense of the common man who suffers, well, hell, sign me up for the other side. I still reserve my freedom of speech and I embrace my freedom to question, agree or disagree. But I cannot accept joy in another´s pain.

Senator Patrick (Leaky) Leahy reprimands the Republican appointees and slanders by inference the entire GOP and all I can think of is Barney Franks´ boyfriend running boys for sale out of the basement of his beltway digs. This goes beyond gall. This is criminal. Sen. Leahy recently mentioned he would be happy to help put the criminals in jail. Then he and some of the other senators giggled like schoolgirls. Leahy thought he was acting macho. But I heard a laugh in our face, as I wonder where the hell he was for the entire two terms of the Clintons.

The very same Clintons who gave us a deprived attitude about love and sex and fidelity; the very same media who told us it was “only about sex” and not treason, obstruction of justice, abuse of power, perjury by a member of the bar and subornation of perjury by that same member and tampering with a witness—these very same people who were blind in toto, now tell us they can see clearly now? And while the Democrats are investigating (on the nightly news) the Republican administration, what about Rubin, who was on the scene and up close and personal when all this shady accounting and corporate greed was taking place? Right now, Rubin, Clinton´s ‘man´ is getting paid, are you ready for this, $40 MILLION/annum just to advise Citigroup on strategy. Hmm. I wonder what kind of advice that is? Just what does one say to crooks when they are planning to loot the workers and leave them destitute?

And what about New Jersey´s newest Senator and Hillary pal, John (Megabux) Corzine? While his Goldman Sachs was suffering the little guy, Johnny spent over $60 MILLION to buy his senate seat. Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla. said “If we´re going to have hearings, Mr. Lieberman, let's have Goldman Sachs, let's have Citigroup brought to the dais," and "When we talk about Enron, we ought to talk about all the players," Foley said on the House floor. "And there seems to be some real mischief. In fact, Mr. Corzine used $60 million to run for the Senate. Goldman Sachs was hyping Enron stocks past $90. They encouraged people to buy it."

Recently the New York Times reported that former Clinton administration Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles, presently seeking a Senate seat in North Carolina, “Is taking heat for a corporate scandal as a board member of Merck Pharmaceutical, Inc, which is accused of inflating revenue by $12 billion.” His "unwillingness to explain his role in a string of disastrous investments while a managing partner of investment bank Forstmann Little that led to the loss of more than $100 million for Connecticut retirees" is being raised by the Republican party there. Lest we mention the only man allowed to use the word G-d and be praised for it, Senator Lieberman´s has his own dirty hands in all this corporate corruption. No wonder the senator wants to take the high road and not investigate. High road, my fanny. What can be said for a party that puts their own bank accounts above the very electorate they purport to represent? Nothing good and politics at its worst.

Liberals are interested in "the little guy" only as someone to be a perpetual "victim" for their crazy class-warfare schemes. They can't wait to raise taxes and flush more of your money down the liberal drain of horrible ideas. Raising taxes is the first thing on their minds when they wake up in the morning until they go to bed at night.

The fact is that most Dem senators are filthy-rich themselves and are involved neck-deep in all these "terrible" corporations. What hypocrites! Dems have no ideas to make things better which would be to keep their filthy snouts out of the nations financial business. Throw the corporation crooks in prison, but don't kill the goose that laid the golden egg.

I was struck by the language Daschle and Gephardt used when the Republicans "caved" on the Sarbanes bill. When the Democrats were in the minority in both the House and the Senate they used to speak of "compromise" and "bi-partisanship"; when the Sarbanes bill was approved over the Republican version of accounting reform (which had been proposed months earlier), the Democrats talked about accepting the Republicans' "surrender". That sort of braggadocio was called "arrogant" back when Newt Gingrich declared Clinton "irrelevant". It should serve as a reminder of what to expect if the Democrats gain control of both houses of Congress.
