Any HTML gurus? Got a email from the Dem. Congressional Campaign Comm. that I wanted to post to FR

I am not sure if everyone remembers this story, but I have a old phone number for a big time democratic trial attorney who has given a lot of money to Clinton, Gephardt etc. Hell I was even invited to the white house for a dinner with Clinton (natually they didn't realize who they were talking to). Anyway, I gave them my email so I would be on there email lists.... today I got one from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. I thought Freepers would enjoy reading it, to get the view from the other side. The problem is that the email is in complete HTML, and I can't edit copy and paste it to put it in the site, when I save it as a HTML file, it is to skewed

The other good thing, is that this email only goes to the DNC's top donors...

If you can help, freep mail me

If it came via Outlook Express, there's an easy way to "see" and copy & paste the html.

I suggest ALL you IE users take eddie willers' advice and get this handy, dandy tool! It puts ALL the powers right on your right clicker!

Hi gals.
Yes, Howlin, it's such a neat and keeno tool that I made up a generic response and put it on a notepad page to ramp up as needed.

Here it is:

I hope you don't find this presumptuous, but I have found this web tool for IE5 to be invaluable.
I found it on an 'HTML Bootcamp' thread and since so few of us ever go back to 'old' threads, I have been posting it to folks that may have brought over a little more HTML from their article than they wanted.

What it means is that you can usually highlight just the article that normally resides in the middle of the page. (away from all the ads and tables etc)

After you have highlighted just the text you want, hold your mouse over the highlighted text, right click and copy your 'View Partial Source' and bring it over to FR.

Keeps you from doing what you did. :-)

Here's a great tip: With Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0+ you can easily download and install a few cool tools, such as "View Partial Source." With that extra small tool installed on your PC, you can highlight a segment of any webpage, right-click, and choose to view the partial source of whatever got highlighted by your mouse. Now you don't have to look through an entire page's source code, just the small part of the page you are interested in viewing.

Here's the link for IE web tools:
http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/IE/WebAccess/default.asp
and look at the bottom of the page for "Web Developer Accessories." You will need to reboot to get it to work.

A few questions:
  1. What email program are you using?
  2. What browser are you using?
  3. If you're not using Mozilla/Netscape, do you have Frontpage or Frontpage Express?
  4. Do you have a word processing program like Word?
Depending on what you have on your machine, extracting the HTML code shouldn't be all that hard. There are several ways to skin this cat.

Seriously, it's quite easy-- hilite the message bar in OE so it darkens, hit "forward," hit the "source" tab when it appears, and there's the html. Copy & paste, being sure to remove any unwanted ( like your email addy! ) data before you post.
