Some members of the nation's largest lawyer group plan to use this week's annual meeting to criticize the Bush administration's handling of the terrorism investigation and business scandals.

They will not see President Bush, who is skipping a chance to speak to the American Bar Association and is vacationing at his Texas ranch, or hear from Vice President Richard B. Cheney or any Cabinet member.

In other words, the administration is not going to negotiate with terrorists or other enemies of the state - much less cave in to their selfish demands to further ruin the nation. Wrong party, lawyers - go find your 'Rat friends.

The ABA was taken over years ago by left wingers. Many lawyers resigned when this happened. Unlike many state "bar associations," which comprise all the lawyers admitted to practice in the state, the ABA is purely voluntary. Unfortunately, many people are unaware of this, and imagine the ABA speaks for all lawyers, which it does not. This kind of pseudo-representation is common in Washington. For example, the AARP, American Association of Retired People, which enrolls many members for its prescription benefits, but functions politically as a wing of the democrat party. This is an long established technique of the left. They used to be called "front" organizations, i.e. groups purportedly representing some faction or interest, but in fact dominated and used exclusively for the purposes of the left.
