National Park Service Ranger Killed in Shooting Near U.S.-Mexico Border

The Associated Press

TUCSON, Ariz. Aug. 9 — A National Park Service ranger was killed Friday in a shootout with suspected smugglers near the U.S.-Mexico border, authorities said.

The ranger was responding, along with the U.S. Border Patrol, to a call for assistance from Mexican authorities who were chasing two men in a vehicle that crossed the border into the Organ Pipe National Monument.

Authorities were still investigating what happened, and it wasn't immediately clear why the men were being chased.

Dale Thompson, chief park ranger at the monument, said the shootout took place about 100 yards north of the border in a rugged stretch of desert known for both drug and people smuggling.

The ranger's identity wasn't released.

In this case, I'm not sure what the Mexican authorities were doing

The Medillin cartel has also been made possible by the American government's insistence that legitimate businesses should not distribute drugs and that it should be left to people like Capone.

I agree the drug war as it's being fought is not working at all. We have tons of drugs coming over the border every day, I suspect the Mexican government was possibly helping one of it's bigger drug cartels by going after some little guys that sometimes try to cut in on the business. They aren't bribed for no reason --some of it's just to get the government to protect their "territory".

Sadly the northeastern voters are as out of touch as the RINOs that represent them, but it is not confined to the northeast, it is no different here on the Border. My congressman votes for every bill that destroys our soveriegnty, he introduced a bill to grant amnesty to the illegals in June, yet he keeps getting re-elected by huge margins.

I agree with the gold standard, check out my profile. However, what I was referring to is the manner in which they will acheive it. I'm talking about cashless society, of which later will become a world currency.

I do agree that our currency needs to be instituted on a gold standard. However, talks of eliminating America's currency isn't intended for that purpose.

And I'm just guessing here, but the report of this will likely be made on page 47 of section F in the local paper, if at all. This is just another pooper scooper story concerning two governments that couldn't care less. "Sweep it up and dump it in the recepticle over there. We can't be bothered."

You know, SOMETIMES I wonder if we might have kept more freedom with algore as President of these Uniteds States since he wouldn't get the automatic free pass on anti-freedom laws , treaties, and deals that too many give G.W. Bush. SodamnInsane is on the other side of the world and Bush wants to go after him, but ignores the very real threat at the southern border !

Yep, folks, its cheap labor for the "Republican" businessmen and more "Democratic" voters for welfare benefits. We are being robbed of our land, our heritage, and our money . Why should immigrants be eligible for any benefit except the opportunity to work ?

Can't the governors of the border states call out National Guard units to patrol and seal the areas ? For the poster who sidn't want martial law, I say this is one of the very few needs I see for eminent domain taking of the land's value. It's insane to allow this flood which has washed over the nation to continue. Worldwide we see the nations which worked hardest to have decent standards of living being told its their duty to accept huge numbers of people who despise the culture and want to change everything. Does not the right to self-defense apply here ?

Do you get the feeling that many Americans are isane in their apathy? Is their view of the world kept only in the short term, no further than a few years?

Our government is out of control, and they DO NOT have America's best interests at heart. They make me sick.

You're right, if Gore was President, we'd have more freedoms, as they outrage over the Patriot Act, CFR, Amnesty, etc. would be three to four times as large.

There are too many "conservatives" who think that because we have a "Republican" in the White House, everything is okay. Many actually think that our side is winning, and that everything Bush is doing and promoting is for the good of the country. What kind of nonsense is that?

As I said, this is about a New World Order. I don't see how it could be anything but that. The elites of the world, courtesy of the UN/IMF/and the WTO are playing the people for suckers. All this talk about compassion is a lie, and it should be seen for the tyranny that it is. Look how much the globalist agenda has sped up since September 11. This isn't coincidental, it is being purposefully done.

Your first mistake was that you assumed that everyone had a complex mind.  Some people simply don't have the tools to assess this and other issues.

In their defense there has been a concerted effort by our government, the print media and our education facilities to paint anything that focuses on one ethnic group to be racist.  If every bank rober in Los Angeles was known to be hispanic, these entities would damn anyone who mentioned that fact in reference to bank roberies.  It's unfortunate but that is the same tactic they have taken regarding the flooding of our borders.  Sadly, simple people can't see through this.

Then there's the individual who benefits directly off the backs of illegals.  I have seen posters on this forum admit that they hire illegals.  Then they list a litany of excuses why they must even thought it's a crime to do so.

Through ignorance, self-interest and apathy this nation is being damaged beyond repair.

Every once in a while, more frequently every day, I read folks stating that they wish California could be expelled from the nation.  They just hate how leftist it has become.  I and others have warned them for more than a decade that our very form of government would be undermined if they didn't join us in California to put an end to illegal immigration.  They wouldn't hear any of it.

What do these folks think will happen when California leaves the union?  As it is flooded with even more Mexican nationals, the citizens of Aztlan will then flood the borders of Arizona, Nevada and Oregon.  As their state houses become over-represented by hispanics who have been promised "goodies" by the left, those states will become candidates to leave the union as well.  And then their neighboring states will.  Where do you draw the line?  Either we take a stand or we say good-bye to the nation that we loved so dearly.

It started out, "Oh this isn't a problem."  Then it was, "California sure is leftist."  Then it was, "I sure wish we could boot California."  LOL, what a bunch of brain dead idiots.  They have supported the cries for Aztlan every step of the way.  Now they actually clamor to expel California.

As I stated in my first sentence, your first mistake was that you assumed everyone had a complex mind.  Your second mistake was that you assumed everyone with a complex mind was on your side and loved this nation.

I think Bush can actually believe he is a good Christian and still promote new world order. Saving babies from abortion killers is great and saving these United States 's freedom would be good, too. I do not and never did like the idea of family dynasties in American politics, but the people seem to be comfortable with it.

After all, it not who votes, but who counts the votes , that's important.

The UN has long wanted to disarm all nations, seeking for itself the only viable standing army. Have you noticed what's happening to our military? Coupled with the flooding of this nation with foreign nationals, especially those from the middle-east, you've gotta be at least scratching your head over this if you've got any gray matter still functioning.

I think the time has come for all American citizens to arm themselves and be ready to defend our country, family and what remaining freedoms we have left. Obviously our government fat cats have little interest in doing so. Prepare yourself and speak out! Guard our borders now!

I suppose that you're right, but the way I view it, there is no compromise, there is no denying it. This is a cut and dry issue, and it doesn't take a genius to see what is happening, and the lies and manipulatory tactics being used.

I believe that we have an illegitimate government in office. Everywhere I turn, I hear calls for big government. I turn on C-Span and see some mean-faced Democrat woman up there yelling to the top of her lungs that Republicans want to take away senior's social security, medicare, and that they don't believe in prescription drugs. I think, these people aren't entitled to anything, and what you're advocating is the bloating of the federal government. I then go on to think that both parties have been corrupted, and that they're all proposing the same socialist nonsense. You've got to be severely disillusioned not to see it.

DoughtyOne, I respect your opinions immensely, for you're one of the most level-headed guys that I've seen on this forum. You speak with common sense, and it's very evident.

For whatever reasons people do no like Pat Buchanan, I will never understand. He was the best candidate for the job, and he has America's best interests at heart. How can a globalist Bush be better than an America-First Buchanan? Are these people that disillusioned by the media?

Actually, I think that Bush is implementing the agenda, and he's not as clueless as many like to paint him. The guy knows what he is doing. I do respect and agree with the abortion thing, and it is a very important point. However, for our nation to survive, that is only one piece of the puzzle.

Of course, the US military is being increasingly used as humanitarian and peace keeping forces, under the direct control of the United Nations. The U.S. military acts as a police force in too many different countries, and they aren't being used to protect and defend the United States from invasion, an important aspect.

The U.S. military is being involved in selective military campaigns, whereas our troops are being used to take out countries with whom disagree with the new world agenda, while, on the other hand, our president has told Israel to take it easy with their defense measures. What Israel is dealing with is one hundred times as dangerous as what we're having to deal with in relation to Muslim terrorists. The only reason that many Muslims are here is because our government let them in. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is home to many of the terrorists, yet we're not going after them, claiming that they're a friend, and stating that Saddam must be ousted? Why the double standard? Of course, I'm sure that oil has a lot to do with it.

I happen to believe that America's greatest threat is illegal immigration, an out of control immigration and naturalization service, the deindustrialization of America through free trade, high taxes, and abortion. Oh, and socialist politicians make it worse, too.

Bush will probably say: "People of goodwill from our country and Mexico will apprehend the person or individuals responsible."

Maybe. He might have an attack of aphasia and finally sputter out something about "women of cover" too. I don't pay much attention to what he says anyway. When he has something to say you can't tell what he's talking about, so what's the point?
