Dear "Hutt",

Ann is an embarassment because she obliterates the opportunity for people like me to convert fence-sitting democrats to the GOP. Her tone scares the conservative democrats and moderate democrats who need to be educated regarding the liberal Dem's agenda. If the GOP wants to win elections, conservatives need to appeal to the 75% of the electorate in the middle spectrum. Coulter does not appeal to that portion of the population.

Her tone does not even assist in opening the doors to further discussion. If you think you can govern without the medical community, you had better think again. Small and medium sized medical offices assist more people each day than most incumbent offices do in a week!

Judith,

While I respect your opinion, you are in a distinct minority. Peggy Noonan is far more insightful and actually has credentials to comment on national affairs. Exactly what are Coulter's credentials?

I also am concerned with the liberal agenda. However, the fact that people are making Coulter's personality an issue suggests that her tone and invective are more important than the facts. Good policy discussion requires more fact than spin. Coulter's use of language is filled with spin. That's why O'Reilly took her to task.

I've always wondered that too. If you find that ACT/SAT comparison, please let me know. My best friend is married to an R.W. from Kansas - those are his real initials but he isn't you.

bones, feel free to have a preference. I also like Peggy Noonan, but I find Ann very witty. And it's refreshing to see young women coming up into national prominence who have her zest.

As for her credentials, look them up yourself.

Being loud and offensive does not create understanding. Conservatives should heed the tone of Proverbs. The failure to follow Proverbs in policy discussion creates heated arguments instead of furthering understanding. Coulter does little for the GOP. Instead, she is a true embarassment.

Policy matters should be more important than personality in political discussion. However, as this entire thread shows, some people are more interested in personality than issue.

While that may be appropriate for 1990's poli sci, it is very "last century".

In our part of the community, I spend more time attempting to address her tone and her perceived racism than in being able to actually address policy and poli sci issues.

No matter what the people in this thread say. I stand by my previous statements. Ann's current tone is a detriment to the GOP and to the conservative movement.

Liberals like to make "personality" an issue in order to divert from the "facts" surrounding liberal issues.

Ann Coulter only adds fuel to the fire by creating a target which can be quoted by every liberal in the nation. While this may be helpful to see books, it does little to convert fence-sitting moderates to the GOP.

I STAND BY MY ORIGINAL STATEMENT AND REITERATE IT

On C-Span, she backed up every one of her assertions with facts. Her book is extensively foot-noted. She differentiated between opinion and fact beautifully. I like her. If that bothers you, too bad. All conservative women are not the same.

If you think that people must like EITHER Peggy Noonan OR Ann Coulter, and may not like them both for their unique work, then I think you may have some other kind of problem.

And I'm not interested in converting liberals or fence-sitters. Let them come to the truth by hard experience or superior reason, matters not to me.

You may simply be saying "you catch more flies with honey," but honey, who wants flies?

I have not read her book, although I am sure that it is humorous

You are an embarrassment.
Apparently, sharp wit escapes you. The fact that this is typically a scumbag liberal shortcoming makes me... suspicious.

See ya 'round,
LH

My SAT composite would be 1140 (25 ACT), but I haven't found anything that splits the different ACT test sections into the math/verbal SAT portion.

Here is the page that I found the composite conversion at, however: http://www.ivywest.com/acttosat.htm

I took the ACT 5 times before I got the 25 I wanted. I hate standardized tests and work rather slowly on them and needless to say, they don't give you much time at all....:(

I am glad that is over with and I can now move on and be a freshman in college this year.

Exactly what are Coulter's credentials?
Well, for starters, here is her biography, from http://www.anncoulter.org/bio.html:

ANN COULTER

Ann Coulter is a lawyer and author of the New York Times best seller, High Crimes and Misdemeanors: The Case Against Bill Clinton. Her most recent book, Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right, is a number one New York Times Best-Seller.

Coulter is the legal correspondent for Human Events and writes a popular syndicated column for Universal Press Syndicate. She is a frequent guest on many TV shows, including Politically Incorrect, Larry King Live, Hannity and Colmes, The O'Reilly Factor, American Morning With Paula Zahn,
Crossfire, ABC’s “This Week,” Good Morning America, the Leeza Show, and has been profiled in TV Guide, National Journal, Harper’s Bazaar, and George Magazine. She was named one of the top 100 Public Intellectuals by federal judge Richard Posner in 2001.

Coulter clerked for the Honorable Pasco Bowman II of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and was an attorney in the Department of Justice Honors Program for outstanding law school graduates.

After practicing law in private practice in New York City, Coulter worked for the Senate Judiciary Committee, where she handled crime and immigration issues for Senator Spencer Abraham of Michigan. From there, she became a litigator with the Center For Individual Rights in Washington, DC, a public interest law firm dedicated to the defense of individual rights with particular emphasis on freedom of speech, civil rights, and the free exercise of religion.

A Connecticut native, Coulter graduated with honors from Cornell University School of Arts & Sciences, and received her J.D. from University of Michigan Law School, where she was an editor of The Michigan Law Review.

And, she certainly knows how to mobilize the activists on THIS forum.

Ok...well guess what, I just found a page that does break down your ACT composite into the SAT verbal/math portions.

Here it is:

http://www.pstcc.cc.tn.us/departments/curriculum_and_instruction/advising-info/act-sat.html

It looks like my verbal score is better than our President (perhaps better than Al Gore's also, as the possible score range goes above him a ways also). That makes me feel kind of good....lol!

Ann is an embarassment to the conservative movement. She is confrontational and too arrogant to assist the cause. Her vernacular and tone does little to elevate her op/eds. Instead, it becomes the Jerry Springer of the conservative movement.

You're kidding, right? An embarrasment? Colter's book is well researched, well documented and well presented. She's not just refuting the liberal's arguments, she's confuting them. That's an embarrasment?

Oh, if you're a liberal, it is an embarrasment!

Huh?!? You must be with the 'Neville Chamberlain wing' of the "conservative movement".

I don't give her any credentials based on hair color or appearance. The fact of the matter is that Coulter lacks credentials to comment on government. She's never served in government... or am I incorrect?

Lancey,

Got any comments regarding the expansion of the GOP voter registration and voter base?

You appear to be thinking with your gonads instead of your brain.
