While touting the so-called economic boom of the 1990's as the product of the fiscal leadership of her husband's administration, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton tried to elbow ex-veep Al Gore out of the picture yesterday, giving credit instead to Mr. Clinton and former Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin.
"I thought, as I obviously believed, that you know, the Clinton-Rubin economic policies that worked so well during the '90s really do work well in global economy," she told CNN's John King.
Mrs. Clinton's sudden decision to airbrush Mr. Gore from her husband's economic record immediately caught the attention of talk radio mega-star Rush Limbaugh, who told his audience Wednesday, "I guess Gore was just a potted plant - or tree. He's being expunged from the rewrite of history."
Some saw Mrs. Clinton's Gore snub as the clearest sign yet that she may not be willing to wait till 2008 to make her move on the White House.
Two weeks ago she took a New York gathering of the Democratic Leadership Council by storm, winning a reception so rousing that it left other candidates looking pallid by comparison.
While the DLC's endorsement gave the original Clinton-Gore team its "new Democrat" veneer in 1992, the ex-veep was nowhere to be seen at this year's convention - even though he was in town and eating lunch just a few blocks away.
Speculation was rampant that Gore feared being upstaged by the wildly popular (with New York Democrats) former first lady. In every poll that includes her name, Mrs. Clinton leads all other Democratic presidential contenders except Mr. Gore.
Mrs. Clinton's aggressive fundraising for HILPAC has also reportedly dried up potential resources for another Gore White House bid.
At no time during her lengthy comments to CNN did Mrs. Clinton make any reference whatsoever to Gore.

There are times when one is so glad to be alive.

"I thought, as I obviously believed, that you know, the Clinton-Rubin economic policies that worked so well during the '90s really do work well in global economy," she told CNN's John King.Note the infamous "you know" when lying.

I believe she is running. However, it is so much fun to see the Clintons betray Albore after he fell on his sword for them.
To: Paul Atreides
Hitlery has no respect for the Gore's. Whatta slap!
To: Paul Atreides
The reason she used Rubin's name and not Gore's is she hoped to improve the Clinton image through association with someone many Americans respect, something Gore and Clinton lack.

What do you mean we, paleface?

Wasn't former Senator and V.P. Candidate Lloyd Benson
Clinton's Secretary of Treasury in his first term? I wonder
why Hillary is ignoring him too?

Hitlery has no respect for the Gore's.Well, she does have something there.

Just wait until she throws Rubin overboard and claims it was just Bubba and herself.
To: Paul Atreides
I think this is as much as anything cover for Rubin. Could backfire. Hillary is so used to playing things out in the court of public opinion, however, the Enron mess will be staged at a different venue.
To: Paul Atreides
that you know, That horrid witch in a pantsuit cannot say two sentences without saying "you know" an irritating habit she needs to lose!
As to her snubbing of Gore, shows the total lack of class of the so called woman. If she wants to include Rubin in the economic "boom" her roommate supposedly caused, great!
Now if the Pubbies would just call for an investigation into Rubins corruption, that would be loverly!

"I thought, as I obviously believed, that you know, the Clinton-Rubin economic policies that worked so well during the '90s really do work well in global economy," she told CNN's John King. From the mouth of the world's smartest woman.
Newsmax could use a grammar AND punctuation checker.

It's like watching the celebration in the locker room of the winning NCAA basketball team. "You know, you know, you know, uh, you know, um, you know."
Which is more, the number of times she says "you know," or the number of times John Edwards blinks??????

I've been known to place 12 commas in a sentence that has 13 words.

I remember, back when he disliked the Clintons for ratings, Chris Matthews had on that woman who reads faces. She said that when Bubba would tell a lie, he would furrow his brow. I believe that, when she is lying, Hillary uses "you know." She used it a lot when brother Baby Huey was in all that trouble over pardon money.
