Conservatives are thrilled that President Bush has apparently decided to skip the U.N.'s pollution-spewing "Earth Summit."
As the London Telegraph has pointed out, the pampered "greens" will cause as much pollution during the Johannesburg yakfest as "half a million ordinary Africans in a year."
"We applaud your decision not to attend the summit in person," says letter to Bush from 31 conservative activists including Fred L. Smith Jr. of Competitive Enterprise Institute, Paul Weyrich of Coalitions for America, Grover Norquist of Americans for Tax Reform and David A. Keene of American Conservative Union.
'Anti-freedom, Anti-people'
"Your presence would only help to publicize and make more credible their various anti-freedom, anti-people, anti-globalization and anti-Western agendas. We also strongly support your opposition to signing new international environmental treaties or creating new international environmental organizations at the Johannesburg summit."
The buzz in Washington is that Bush will send Secretary of State Colin Powell instead.
Sierra Club bigwig Michael Dorsey moaned, "People around the world are seriously concerned that the Bush administration is undermining the world summit instead of working with other countries to benefit everyone."
But others think the event is the funniest, most hypocritical thing since globalist fatcats stuffed their faces at the so-called World Food Summit.
'40,000 Goofies'
Smith told the Associated Press: "Why would you go to a party when they want to throw pies at you? The fortunate thing is when 40,000 goofies get together, not much happens."
Except, of course, for all the pollution they create. Just think how much carbon dioxide will issue from all that hot air.

Sierra Club bigwig Michael Dorsey moaned, "People around the world are seriously concerned that the Bush administration is undermining the world summit instead of working with other countries to benefit everyone."No. SOME people around the world are concerned. Don't make it sound as if everyone is gnashing their teeth over it.

You are absolutely correct, Micheal Dorsey doesn't speak for the people of the world. By the way, this is a typical liberal tactic to legitimize the premise of one's argument and was highlighted prominently in Ann Coulter's "Slander".
