Farrakhan Rails Against 'White Supremacy'
CNSNews.com ^ | August 18, 2002 | Michael L. Betsch

Washington, D.C. (CNSNews.com) - Thousands of blacks rallied in Washington Saturday in support of reparations for past slavery, joining Nation of Islam Leader Minister Louis Farrakhan and shouting "They owe us!"

"We're not asking white people [for reparations]," said Farrakhan, who headlined the 'Millions for Reparations Mass Rally'. "We are demanding what is justly ours."

Farrakhan also urged enlisted military personnel to not fight for the U.S. should an armed strike against Iraq be initiated, and called for the ceding of land to black Americans.

The Nation of Islam minister told the predominantly black, pro-reparations crowd that "reparations is a proper theme around which all black America should and must unite."

Farrakhan believes the U.S. government should issue reparations to black Americans as compensation for past slavery in the United States, saying "our pocketbooks" need repair.

By his account, blacks need "payment for the destruction of our minds; the robbery of our language, our culture, our history, our religion, our God, our self-dignity, and our self-worth."

However, Farrakhan said, "We cannot accept a cash payment because a fool and his money will soon part." Instead, he advocated the transfer of "millions" of acres of land from the U.S. government to African Americans.

Farrakhan explained that blacks live in an America that is a "nation within a nation." The America that blacks inhabit, he said, does not enjoy "true freedom, justice and equality" from white America.

"As a nation within a nation, we need land as a basis of economic and political independence," Farrakhan said. "We cannot settle for some little jive token - we need millions of acres of land that black people can build and use for ourselves."

Farrakhan said his "just demand" for building a black nation on American soil would reward blacks for their service in the United States military.

He concluded his brief 15-minute speech urging blacks, Hispanics and "poor whites" enlisted in the military not to support or fight in any military attack that President Bush may unleash upon Iraq.

"I don't think we need to fight in the white man's army," Farrakhan said. "Our fight is in America against the recalcitrance of white supremacy, and we shall win this fight because it's a just struggle."

Socialist Agrees With Farrakhan on Reparations

"There should be restitution for the crimes of slavery," said John Coursey, a representative of Solidarity, a group that describes itself as a "revolutionary, socialist, democratic, feminist, anti-racist organization." He claimed that much of the inequalities that exist in American society today can be traced back to slavery.

Coursey acknowledges that slavery was outlawed in the U.S. more than a century ago, but laws and segregation continued to oppress blacks well into the 1970s and still do so today.

He believes corporations operating in America today should also pay reparations to blacks for the hardships of their ancestors decades and centuries ago.

"Specifically, I think the money should come from corporations that have built their power today from exploiting and oppressing black people," Coursey said. "Look at the people that have wealth who have actually exploited slavery and benefited from it."

Coursey said a reparations payout to blacks would act to balance America's "widely unequal" distribution of wealth.

Green Party Rep Compares Slavery to Holocaust

"If Germany could apologize for its crimes against gypsies and the Jews, why can't this country begin to do some apology and soul searching about what it's done to the American Indians and black people," asked David Barrows, a protestor representing the D.C. Statehood Green Party.

Slavery reparations are an official policy of the Green Party nationwide and the D.C. Statehood Green Party, Barrows said.

Barrows believes that compensating blacks is a great opportunity for the U.S. government to make a "clean break" from its oppressive past. "Reparations is a good start," he said.

"The country has to say, 'We committed crimes against humanity against a major part of our people, and we do not want to be a part of this exploitation,'" Barrows said.

WHY on EARTH would a Baptist Church let a rabid Muslim extremist spout his hate speech to a bunch of black Christians...as if Farrakhan has ANY of THEIR inerests at heart? I mean, if the black Christian community would just IGNORE this man, who wants an independent Muslim state here in the US, rather than giving him a platform upon which to insanely rant, he wouldn't go away...but close enough.

This guy is a Muslim extremist. He encourages extremist Arab Muslims to commit terrorist acts against us. The fact that he's black is a secondary coincidence of fate and has nothing to do with it. He represents the interests of HIMSELF first, using the medium of promoting hate and MUSLIM EXTREMISM second. He does NOT represent the interests of black Americans in any way shape or form.

So, why aren't we seeing newspaper headlines saying: "FARRAKHAN CALLS BLACKS FOOLS"?

Kinda sounds like ol' Mugabe in regards to the white farmers in Zimbabwe. I am glad a nutjob like this does not have any mainstream appeal. He should have been arrested for sedition when he came back from his Iraq trip.

When I read that Farrakhan would be preaching at churches rather than mosques, I said, "huh?" But I bet having Cindy's papa twisting arms had a lot to do with it.

Farrakhan goes into his Jesus/Bible riff quite often. This is just one example:

Black lawmakers must be free

<snip>

The Minister also expressed support for embattled Georgia Democrat Cynthia McKinney, who faces a stiff challenge in an upcoming August primary.

"I want to say to all of you that you might think that just because you’re an individual that you don’t have weight," he said. "But God has never sent a team to do His work. He sends one man and anoints that man and backs that man with His power.

"And that’s why we love Jesus," Min. Farrakhan continued. "He was one man but he had disciples. Moses was one man but he had Aaron and he had disciples. If you feel that you are right and you are with God and God is with you, never, never compromise what is right for any position that makes you comfortable. Your real comfort has never been in comfort; your real comfort lies in the fact that you know that you are in the bosom of a mighty God and shadowed under his wings. With that kind of faith, we went forward" on the mission, he reported.

Hers a quote from yesterdays program on CSPAN covering the reparations rally.

"We are here today to pin the tail on the HONKEY" "Black Power! Black Power!"

Does anyone have any doubts that this is not about reparations, but about instigating a nation wide race war?

1.I recommend this idiot pick up a weapon and stand a post, actually, enemy of the domestic type.
2. Give him and his followers the most austere portion of Nevada...then declare war on it.
3. Move your ass to someplace better in Africa.

How does this plan address those that came from Africa, on their own, post slave trade? There have been many. I met a guy two weeks ago in a gym that just came from South Africa. Will he get a cut just because of his skin color? What about those that fled to the Caribbean Islands? They are not US citizens but they were slaves?

Will a poor farmer have to pay Tiger Woods, Colin Powell or Bill Cosby?

What land does he speak of? Federal Land or private land? If there is one thing that should be learned from colonialism is that unless a people are ready and able to lead themselves there will be disaster. Simply look at post colonial Africa. A continent that was a major exporter of food products is now starving 50 years later.

But why hasn't Calypso Louie addressed the ACTIVE slavery in Sudan? Sorry, I forgot. That is slavery run by muslims. I guess that's okay.

The entire thing is a mess and I dare say there isn't an elected official smart enough to even come close to straightening it out. They can not even understand basic economics.

The liberal big government solution will be to create a cabinet level "Department of Reparations." This agency will have an annual budget of several billion dollars just to pay staff (All African-American, of course).

Its mandate will be to decide who pays and who is paid.

Each claimant will need to have their individual claim heard by a judge. (lots of lawyers hired to be judges). Each person being asked to pay will have the same right. Defenses can be that your ancestors only arrived after 1865. Exclusions can be if you or your ancestors came from Africa within the last 135 years.

Since some "African-Americans" have white blood or blood from recent arrivals, the judge will decide how much these people receive---and what percentage they must pay back because of any white blood.

Think of all the legal work this Department will generate! When you add in the consultants and contractors, it can put all of Jesse's people on the payroll without ever paying a dime in reparations!

Yep. He brings up God and Christ constantly....in order to hide the fact that he's a Muslim extremist. What I don't understand is why Christian churches let this guy in the door to begin with. It's not exactly common practice for Muslims to preach in Christian churches, any more than it's common practice for Christians to preach in mosques.

This morning in Atlanta, Farrakhan will be speaking at the Hillside Chapel and Truth Center. I wonder what "Truths" Farrakhan will have in his sermon.

You are, of course, correct - But whether we call it sedition or treason, the result is the same.

Calypso Louie needs to go to jail.
