Reparations rally backs Mugabe land grab

I forgot to mention something about yesterday's reparations rally, something that shocked me deeply. There was a young lady there wearing a t-shirt with a photo of Zimbabwe's thug ruler Robert Mugabe--the one who's brought his people to the brink of mass starvation. The shirt read something like, "Support Mugabe--Free The Land!"
I spoke to the young lady. I pointed out that relief agencies say about 6 million Zimbabweans will need emergency food aid to avoid death from hunger. And I told her that the policy of evicting white farmers is the reason for the disaster, because they grew most of the country's food, plus a lot more for export to other poor African countries.
Her reply? She said that a price would have to be paid to get the land back to its rightful owners and that the Zimbabweans would just have to pay that price. This from a black woman who'd probably under other circumstances have gone on at length about her love for her people.
During his speech, Louis Farahkhan declared his support for Mugabe, and a cheer went up from the audience. It was frankly disgusting. A bunch of black people demanding reparations for their ancestors' miseries, cheering for a political leader whose policies were causing horror and death to millions of living, breathing black people here and now. Hmmm...after the bodies are buried, I wonder if they'll call for Mugabe's successors to pay reparations?

They are cheering Mugabe for doing what they would like done here. The fact that many of their 'brothers' will starve to death in the process means nothing.

Shades of "Atlas Shrugged." Let them take the land. It'll be a complete shambles (as opposed to a government-induced
part shambles) in 5 years or less.
How do you suppose they will blame us for that?

I'll bet few of them even know what a Mugabe is. If they're ignorant and/or stupid enough to follow Farahkhan, then they will jump when he says jump, or clap when he says we should support Mugabe.

I'll bet few of them even know what a Mugabe is Dat's easy. Mugabe is the Brother throwing the Honky's out.

They will blame us for doing nothing, just like Rwanda.
It will be all the fault of the US (white people) then for not doing something, anything, today. Of course, these same people would run riot in the streets if we actually did do anything.

They don't care how many die as long as they can take "their land/stuff" from the whites. Disgusting.

I read an article the other day here on FR that most of the white farmers in zimbabwe don't want to leave. Some are leaving yes, but many are staying. But I agree with you that they should all come here.

There was a near riot at work over a Farakan member. She asked to use the phone in the employees only area, and an employee trying to be nice allowed it.
She saw a poster of Ben Laden that was being used for a dart board and she pitched the biggest fit, talking about him being innocent, demanded the poster be taken down.
The employee's were enraged, and there was alot of yelling going on right back at her. Most Americans don't want trouble, but lately I have noticed that there is less backing away from it and more willingness to get right back in abusive people's faces.

I watched most of the rally on C-Span, and I noticed the support of Mugabe's as hypocritical also. Your talking to a person in the crowd of this confirmed what I thought...they really do not care at all, for their ancestors...that is just an excuse. They want money, power and anything they can get without working for it.

No they would not "run riot" in the streets, they would simply die in the streets. No mention from the reparationists about the living, breathing whites that are being murdered in Zim. I guess they don't count.

Oh you mean to the Native American Indians? :-)
Make the decendents of the Buffalo Soldiers pay reparations to the American Indians!!!!

I don't think property rights are a big issue with these folks. They probably aren't followers of John Locke, but that is just a guess.

Thanks for confronting the woman, and thanks for this post.
This is exactly where FR and its blog brothers put the mainstream press to shame.
The attitude of the pro-Mugabe mob is unfathomably irrational. It is, literally, sickening.
