Free Republic Network Conference a Roaring Success! Participants post your comments here

Dear Freepers:

I just returned from the First Annual Free Republic Network Convention in Las Vegas.

The Free Republic Network Cruise last October was the most fun I've ever had in my whole life. The Free Republic Network Conference I just attended was the most informative and inspiring two days I've ever had in my whole life.

The Free Republic Network is stretching its muscle, not by talk, but by action. The Free Republic forum is liberty's college. The Free Republic Network is liberty's workplace.

If you attended, please use this thread to post your observations, comments and highlights of the conference. I will give mine below. But before I do, I'd like to take this time to thank Bob Johnson and the FRN board for putting on this conference. It's hard for me to find the words to adequately describe how great this experience was--and how much I learned.

Fred writes: Don't get mushy on me.

In that case, can I have Fred's share of mush? :-)

Anna.... What a breath of fresh air you are. I wish I had been able to meet your sons.

I got the pleasure of meeting them last year in July (they stole my heart as did you!), then I had a all too brief reunion with them at the conference, but I managed to get a couple of pics in, which I hope to be able to post by this weekend.

In the meantime, from my pics of last year (Hamlet is the older one, Indigo is the younger one):

I'm soooo jealous! :) You get to hang out with LNM, get a 1st class flight, a free future flight and win back your money.

Eat yer hearts out everyone! :-)

Did you play a country music song backwards or something? :)

Howdja guess? :-)

Glad to finally meet you in person. Thanks for the help with gathering the FReeper photos. And keep up the good work with those whacky parody graphics.

Hey, it was great to meet you in person too! Welcome on the help, and I'll try my best with the graphics. :-)

"In a room full of political activists my wife was made to feel COMFORTABLE!"

JaJ, we both love asparagus and making our dinner plates a beauty to behold. How could we not be comfortable with each other?

Mrs. JaJ is a very warm person. And so are you for that matter . . .

FRiva Las Vegas! My two cents... The conference was very interesting and informative. I have some new ideas as a result. Laura Ingraham was WONDERFUL! We need more like her. One of the reasons I love conservatives is because we have senses of humor! She kicked off the conference with wit and style. The Saturday classes were intense. We had a lot of information to digest. I appreciated learning some tips from the opposition's play book. My problem is that I get emotional (I'm a girl, not a liberal!) and don't like to argue with libs so I just shut up. The evening awards ceremony was GREAT! I want to view the video again, it was so good. Great choices for the music, from Quiet Riot to Queen to Sir Paul McCartney. Is there a link or someplace I can view some of the video from the conference? Sitting in the background on Sunday morning for the after-conference "autopsy" was fascinating. I did not want to interrupt... okay, really I didn't want to stop eating my Krispy Kremes.... but my view is that the POWER behind FR is the web site. The annual conference is an awards banquet, conservative style. It is a chance to get together and meet face to face, go over the year past and talk about the year to come. But, I believe, the real power to reach, teach, and grow our group is with the web site. To the FReepers who worked so hard to put the conference together, you guys did a phenomenal job! My only negative comment is that a lot of FReepers are cigarette smokers; I worry that conservatism will lose important people because smoking will kill some of us off prematurely. I smoked cigarettes for 15 years and quit in 1985. It was better in the old days when cigarette smoke was ubiquitous, you didn't notice it. One of the unintended consequences of the anti-smoking initiative is that the smoke is MORE noticable since they have isolated smokers. I do NOT believe second-hand smoke is dangerous; it just happens to trigger my terrible Migraines. On the flight home Sunday night, we enjoyed a wonderful light show put on by God. Several storms almost all the way back to Chicago lit up the clouds in the most beautiful way. Well, I have to try to earn some money to make up for all the quarters I threw away in the slot machines. Rock on FReepers! Thanks for the good time!

The reason the message was not read was because I did not receive it in time to take it with me.

His Royal Podness invited Himself in the interest of burying the hatchet.

We have a common enemy. It is Liberalism/Socialism/Marxism/Fascism/The MEdia/ and certain members of the Dark Side (His Slickness; Carville...).

Infighting does noone any good. It is time to move on and watch each other's six.

Thanks so much for the kind words. You are a beautiful lady with a great mind and a big heart. I've read plenty of words from you on this forum over the years, but now I have seen that your acts are equally special. :o)

See you soon, I hope!
