Aid professionals are packing their bags right now for one of the biggest global conferences ever: The World Summit on Sustainable Development, which convenes in Johannesburg, South Africa on Monday. And, from the sound of it, helping the Third World has rarely been such a hoot.

Anything and I mean anything having to do with the United Nations should be labeled...
"THUGS R US" A note to Sec. Powell's office would be most appropriate at this time!

multistakeholder dialogues... Kind of reminds me of the old definition of democracy: "three wolves and a sheep sitting down and deciding what's for dinner."

Give a man a fish he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he might replace you with someone who brings fish everyday

This is a wonderful opportunity for the third world employees of the UN and UN diplomats to identify targets for bribes, kickbacks and payoffs. The under-the-counter revenue streams for those UNers who live and play in NYC has to be extraordinary.
These third worlders would be the highwaymen in their home wildernesses. Dress 'em up, let 'em take the UN positions they've purchased and they become profit centers.
It is nice to see Lennie take an interest in something even if it is only more America bashing. Because, after all, that's what the festival will turn into. Each international thug will point out that if only America contributed its fair share, only one hundreth of one percent of [whatever], the poor people of the world would [whatever]. Most of it, of course, would never get by the thugs to the intended beneficiaries.
I simply can't wait for the words of Mugabe to lead us to a better future. He will be given defference and honor for all he has accomplished in defeating the ugly white man and leading Africa to tomorrow.

The only thing that works is Capitalization --the kind that allows working people to keep some capital in exchange for labor so they can invest or spend their own money. It's been proved over and over that Socialism and Communism don't work too well but they still keep trying to force those on the whole world.

Thanks for posting what the UN will look like in 6 years. That is one of my favorites re the UN. Here is another favorite that is very appropriate with this Enviral gang bang against America:

And, since the root cause of poverty is not lack of aid, but lack of liberty backed by law...

Thanks for the ping, T.J.
Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive.

"... are expected to pursue the modest agenda of planning the next quarter century or so for our entire planet." How thoughtful of them! (you guys can leave my part of the planet off your list, thank you)
