Impact of McKinney Loss Worries Some Democrats/Tension Between Blacks, Jews a Concern
Washington Post ^ | 8/22/02 | Thomas B. Edsall

Black and Jewish political leaders voiced concerns yesterday that the defeat of Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-Ga.), a critic of pro-Israel policies, by a challenger receiving extensive Jewish support might intensify ill feelings between two important Democratic constituencies. Any increase in tensions between Jewish and African American voters, political activists said, could damage Democratic hopes of taking back the House and keeping control of the Senate.

I'd love to see Jewish voters smarten up collectively and start shifting support away from liberal Democrats.

Must be tough keeping the hate alive amongst so many 'diverse' groups. The Jews are slowly turning, as are the Hispanics and more and more Blacks. Hope springs eternal...

This is good news.

Also, while the WP article mentions how Majette received lots of out of state "Jewish" money, it fails to note that McIslam received tons of money from TERRORISTS and their sympathizers.

The problem with that is, most of them are left-wing in their politics.

Pro abortion, pro social programs, ad nauseum.

Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Tex), chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, said that "at the grass roots" among African American voters, there is a growing perception that "Jewish people are attempting to pick our leaders... There is some concern about that. It's concern about any candidte being targeted by a special-interest group for voting on any one issue"

As opposed to the Congressional Black Caucus, which is not a special-interest group, of course.

Saw the article this morning. The Post finally got around to mentioning Billy McKinney's outrageous remarks about Jews, in a Page 4 story three days later. Even in an editorial today on the defeats of McKinney and Bob Barr, the Post merely mentions Billy McKinney's comments as "not helping" Cynthia's election. I cannot imagine the fulminations that would be coming from this paper if a Republicans had made those comments about Jews.

I am so angry about this I am going to write to the Post about it.

Agreed! If they want to ease tension, then they'd shut up Billy McKinney. My sister lives in Atlanta, and she called to tell me all the outrageous stuff he was saying on TV and radio shows.

He kept repeating "It's all the J E W S fault."

If a white man said it's all the blacks fault, we'd never hear the end of the racial discrimination charges.

Between blacks and jews. Oh really?

how 'bout between soccermoms and enviralmentalists who want to take away their SUV's.

How about between same envirals and real labor unions (uaw, united mine workers?, and trades like IEBW)? They want to take their jobs away!

"The Jews are slowly turning, as are the Hispanics and more and more Blacks. Hope springs eternal..."

I wish I thought this were true, especially in the case of black voters. But remember, all through the presidential campaign, we knew what excellent Hispanic and Black support George W. had received in his runs for Texas governor. That should have translated into a similiar trend nationally, when he ran for president. And I believe it would have, if not for hateful, race-baiting ads run by the NAACP, the ugly rhetoric of the democrats, and the silent approval by more moderate voices on the left.

That truck dragging ad worked....big time!

The same will happen again in 2004. The DNC will allow their fringe elements to speak for them, Bush will be libeled by the far left of all colors, the democrats will use any angry, hatefilled voice to defeat him.

My only glimmer of optimism that they won't be successful, came on Tuesday, here in Georgia. Voters on both sides of the political aisle rejected old style and untrue personal attacks. Bob Barr and Cynthia McKinney were both defeated, and I hope this portends a national trend.

Just think what a good thing this is for our side! If liberals have to stop lying about conservatives, they lose! That's all they know how to do.

When candidate Bush announced he would not indulge in the politics of personal destruction, it was because he believed the polls that showed Americans were sick of it. And that folks, may be the only positive thing the Clintons gave the country.

All pro-Israel efforts this year to defeat incumbents have targeted blacks, he said, while leaving white congressional critics alone. "That is true and deeply troubling," [Jesse] Jackson said.

But some sources active in the pro-Israel camp said the next likely target is Rep. John E. Sununu, a white Republican who is challenging Sen. Robert C. Smith in New Hampshire's Sept. 10 GOP primary.

If true, Sununu would be targeted by AIPAC-American/Israel Public Affairs Committee.

Well, I messed this one up, too. Having a little trouble lately with posting. Anyways, the first para is also supposed to be italicized - both paras are excerpts from the article.

Ira Formen sez: ." He said the political consequences "remain to be seen" and that he is concerned about "tension between some in the black caucus and the Jewish community. But their long-term interests are together."

Formen of the Jewish Democratic alliance is wrong, blacks and Jews have many issues that divide them, affirmative action, support for Israel, views on Islam; etc.

There's also a lot of hostility in the black community against the Jews and it's not going to go away anytime soon.

"My only glimmer of optimism that they won't be successful, came on Tuesday, here in Georgia"

There's other glimmers out there, or so have said some polls. Election 2000 and the dragging ads are so pre 9-11. Keep the faith. Times are a changing....

It continues to amaze me how Jews vote liberal dems. Jews are people of Faith. Liberals are not people of Faith. Liberal only have faith in their faith of liberalism. They have no Faith in a God. Since liberals hate people of Faith, I cannot understand the Jewish rush to vote for this scum. I am at a loss. Christians are fully supportative of what the Jews are doing to protect themeselves in the Middle East. We are their biggest supporters. I don't see any other Faith's rushing out like Christians have. So, why is it that Jews vote for leftist, socialist, liberal scum?
