WASHINGTON -- The National Education Association, the largest teachers union, usually concentrates on convincing legislators, against ample contrary evidence, that increasing the number and pay of teachers is certain to improve schools. But now the NEA has gone into wartime mode and become a sensitivity tutor for parents and teachers. The result makes one wish the NEA would stick to misleading legislators.

I'm soooo glad I'm not a member of the NEA anymore!

I think many teachers wish they weren't, considering many of them don't want the NEA's help in developing lesson plans regarding 9/11.

9/11 shows us that evil exists. If the NEA admits that evil exists, it would lead to children arriving that the natural conclusion that unions are evil.
The NEA would have us lie to a generation of kids just to avoid useing the word evil.

"Use language that is developmentally appropriate for children." Except for sex education, of course. There, teachers need to show first graders the mechanics of anal sex so that they learn to honor homosexuals.

Another NEA idea for a "healing tool" is a "circle of feelings." I think I know what they're talking about, but I've heard it refered to by a slightly different name.

I'm so glad my kids won't be in ps for this Sept. 11 politically correct feeling-fest. Last year's Kwanzaa and Haunaka(sp?) study all of December was quite enough for me.

Coming soon from the NEA:
Hitler Not to Blame for Holocost
Japan Not Responsible for Pearl Harbor
Pol Pot Was Really a Nice Man
To: TheGrimReaper
And, of course, we already know that Stalin was the humanitarian of the 20th Century.

"But should that day really become an exercise in self-absorption?"
It cannot be anything else when you are a person that beleives your 'feelings' are the primary sense for evaluating the world around you.
Take hate crimes legislation for an example. The thinking is that it's bad enough to commit a violent crime against somebody, but hurt thier feelings in the process? It's the penultimate crime. Get a rope!

Copied from an administrator's door in a Washington state elementary school:
Violence is any mean word, look, sign,
or act, that hurt's a person's body,
feelings, or belongings.
Unbelievable, is it not?

They left out "thought."

Truly I'm amazed that they didn't include it.

Jerald Newberry, an NEA functionary who helped develop the material for Sept. 11, says the attacks were "so horrific parents did not know where to start conversations." Speak for yourself, creep. I didn't have any problem explaining to my kids just who was responsible, to blame and deserving of punishment. And neither was anyone else I knew.
The arrogance of these SOBs is just incredible.

Question- Who is a bigger threat to America, Islamic terrorists or the NEA?
To: TxBec
On Dec. 7, 1942, there were not armies of people calling themselves members of "the caring professions" and operating on the assumption that Americans were emotional cripples, obsessed with their own feelings. That's because in 1942 Americans knew exactly how to deal with such feelings. Congress declared war on Japan and we entered the biggest war of the century and wiped up the Pacific rim with the Japs. And while nobody needs to feel pround of our internment camps, no amount of touchie-feelie education would have stopped that.
Toby Keith knows what makes Americans feel better after 9/11/2001.
Justice will be served and the battle will rage.
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage.
You'll be sorry that you messed with the U.S. of A.
(long pause)
'Cause we'll put a boot in your a$$. That's the American Way!
Shalom.
