Then why do we lock up felons in plush, expensive prisons? Why not just lock them up without food and water? They have no rights.
Then what happens after felons complete their sentence? Does this mean they have no 5th or 14th amendment rights any longer?

The police will like this. Next time a child is missing, just round up all the felons, without warrants of probable cause, then lock them up, without due process, for their role of a missing child.

If you are released from prison, you have paid your debt to society and should no longer be considered a felon. Anyone still deemed to be a felon should remain in prison.

I concur in part - the PSG-1 was banned from import by GHWB, as were many other semi-automatic firearms of military pattern. Care to guess who was clamoring for that ban? Along with the usual suspects, you can also include the domestic firearms manufacturers, who resented having to compete against the imported stuff.
Shiploads of SKS rifles and MAK-90s (post-ban legal AK), and countless rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition still poured in from China, well after Bush the Elder left office. It was Clinton who banned those particular imports.
I'm not defending Bush 41, just placing blame where it belongs.
