Look Who's Back (Cynthia Mckinney) | ||
You guys are being much too harsh on Cynthia. In my honest opinion, she's the finest lawmaker the palestinians have ever had. |
The Crime of Being a Muslim Charity
Last month we had a press release from the Treasury Department, announcing the freezing of the assets of an Islamic charity named KindHearts for Charitable Human Development, because of their many well-documented links to Hamas in Lebanon and the West Bank, and their connections to a US-based Hamas leader.

***1050pm EST update: McKinney responds...
Stay outta her way!
Loony Democrat Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney from Georgia made a few appearances in my last book, but she deserves her own stand-alone case study.
This afternoon, as you've all probably heard by now, she allegedly struck a police officer (via WSBTV via Drudge):
Ed Morrissey, who'll be on the air later tonight, sums it up:
I just need to make sure we have this correct. The new Democratic effort on national security, therefore, is to defy identification procedures, ignore common-sense safeguards, pretend not to hear warnings, and then assault the people protecting us.Gee, I don't know ... sounds like the old Democratic program on security to me.

Today the Democrats launched their mission to revamp their image on security and national defense. They have long complained about a national perception of their party as wimpish, but Cynthia McKinney decided to set the record straight -- by slugging a cop:
According to two sources on Capitol Hill, who spoke on condition of anonymity, Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga., walked through a metal detector in a House of Representatives office building. When an officer asked her to stop, McKinney kept walking. The officer followed her and tapped her on the shoulder.McKinney then allegedly turned around and hit the officer in his chest with her cell phone.
Members of Congress are not required to stop for the metal detectors, but that policy should change soon. Obviously, some members have less emotional stability than others. Cynthia McKinney probably has less than anyone. UPDATE: The AP has a little more detail than NBC: | Comments (11) "Fred Sanford will be appalled to learn Aunt Esther got elected to Congress."

You knew it was coming. Ace certainly did.
She alleges, through her lawyer, that her real crime was "being in Congress while black."
I'll try to have video later of her press conference with Danny Glover. Meanwhile, this morning's post is here.
UPDATE: An obligatory flashback. Just for context.
UPDATE: You can watch live here at 5:30. (Use IE.) Meanwhile, here's a statement on McKinney's website, and here's a statement which, according to WSBTV.com, McKinney was thinking of publishing on her website -- before deciding not to.
UPDATE: Couldn't get audio on the webcast, but luckily Fox News was on the case. Short but sweet:
Read the two statements linked in the previous update. Especially the second one, which sounds like the sort of thing she would have said at the presser if her lawyers hadn't shut her up.
UPDATE: Ace reads the charging instrument through Cynthia McKinney's eyes.
UPDATE: Bareknuckle Politics has video of Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte expressing solidarity with McKinney. But then, expressing solidarity with violent "progressives" is what they do best.
UPDATE: Danny Glover distances himself from Danny Glover.
UPDATE: And you thought "race card" was just a metaphor. Platinum, too!
UPDATE: Captain Ed notes a report from WSBTV that another Congresswoman, Juanita Millender-McDonald, "intervened" after McKinney's run-in with the cop by having a chat with the sergeant-at-arms. Why is that potentially interesting? Because Millender-McDonald happens to be a member of the House committee that oversees ... the sergeant-at-arms and Capitol police. Stay tuned.
UPDATE: Millender-McDonald denies that she intervened on McKinney's behalf. According to her spokesman, Congressman Mel Watt and a staffer from Speaker Hastert's office were also present during her call with the sergeant-at-arms.
Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney is in hot water for slugging a Capitol Police officer who tried to stop her from entering a House office building without going through security. Today her lawyer, James W. Myart Jr., pronounced her a victim of racial prejudice:

Cynthia McKinney may cause a security crisis all on her own in the nation's capital before she gets done with her moment of infamy. Instead of apologizing for failing to wear proper identification, violating a security checkpoint, ignoring a security officer when he asked her to stop, and then assaulting him when he attempted to detain her, McKinney claims that she has been victimized -- by the racist and sexist molesters who guard the government offices in DC: Meanwhile, Fox News reports that a witness to the altercation has essentially corroborated the security officer's report. Comments (29) "McKinney doesn't surprise me a bit - to her, EVERYTHING happens because she's black. McKinney talks to the people who elected her. She's giving them the circus that they want. "
Captains Quarters sums up the Cynthia McKinney cop-punching tale, as the Moonbat Representative decides to take it to the line: | link: 336 comments | "PC multi-culti gone wild. McKinney is the Professor of Moronics, and she never misses an opportunity to teach." Larry Elder, A.K.A The Sage from South Central, ripped her apart today for playing the race card.
In our second hour today, we focused mainly on our two weekly awards: the Loon of the Week and--introduced today--The Week in Gatekeeping. (We're quite proud of the sound clips we use to introduce these bits.) I'll spoil the suspense by saying that the appalling Cynthia McKinney was the Loon of the Week, with a powerful assist from her lawyer.
I won't give away the Gatekeeper; suffice it to say that it's a big paper in New York that never publishes anything by Ralph Peters or Deborah Orin.
