Forester says some anti-logging activists in Montana are terrorists

POLSON, Mont. -- A U.S. Forest Service official told loggers Wednesday that some out-of-state environmental activists operating in Montana are terrorists trained in arson, vandalism and bomb-making.

"Here in Montana, we are starting to see people from out of state and people who have direct ties to the Earth Liberation Front, and that concerns us," said Bill Fox, of the agency's Northern Region office in Missoula.

Fox spoke Wednesday to members of the Montana Wood Products Association, gathered in Polson for their annual meeting.

Earlier this summer, ELF told officials at the Bitterroot National Forest that all salvage logging in burned areas must stop "or they will take direct action," Fox said. ELF also distributes a training manual on fire-bombing and tree-spiking, he said.

"These people play hardball," Fox said.

Fox said the Forest Service has seen strong changes in the protesters that appear at timber sales.

"In the early days, they were primarily college students from Missoula and the University of Idaho," he said. "And they were primarily engaged in civil disobedience. There was no real violence and no real vandalism."

But as time went on, things started to change, Fox said.

"A different group of people started to show up," he said. "These people were better organized and better trained. They had laptops and cell phones. There was a lot more organization and sophistication."

Increasingly, there is violence, or the threat of violence at environmental protests, Fox said. Law enforcement agencies are collecting and sharing information about potential eco-terrorists, and loggers should do the same, he said.

"You need to be your own advocates," Fox said. "We do a lot, but we cannot do it all.

Thanks Tony.

They are the same in Oregon, Montana or Floriduh and all spots in between.

Regardless of what eco terrorist group they are from, they are all Watermelon Green Jihadists intent on destroying America. These tactics eventually result in rural cleansing of loggers, farmers, ranchers and others.

These eco terrorists are far more dangerous to America than the al Qaeda thugs are. Al Qaeda takes years to hurt Americans. The Watermelon Green Terrorists do it 24/7.

This is where I'd like to see some commitment from Ashcroft to put a stop to these criminals.

Tony, here is a link that has been formed to stop ecoviolence. (link to Stop Eco Violence.com)

Freepers on the East Coast may snicker and say that this is not a problem for them. It is. A lot of eco terrorism has been used in the East Coast area. The local left wing news will just spike who caused the arson and violence against private property.

My brother was a forester for the BIA in Montana, managing the timber lands and sales for the native tribes in that region. Its a major source of income for the tribes so they don't put up with any crap from anyone when it comes to managing their resources. He said they had a little activity from the wackos on logging protests but the tribal leadership basically took care of that by running the wackos off. I think they got a taste of street justice native American style. The tribal council's attitude was basically leave us alone, we've been here a lot longer than you (the wackos) and know what's best for our land and people.

It's open season and there's no bag limit.

In our neighborhood, it's the triple 'S' system:

Shoot
Shovel
Shut up

The residents owners of the property knowing what's best.
That's a thought completely foreign to these green communists.

Is anyone out there familiar with the demographics of these green terrorists? I'd be willing to bet that they are predominantly urban bred and raised from middle to upper middle class families. Having faced almost no hardships or privations in their insulated lives, they create a cause to give some meaning to otherwise shallow , ill- informed vapid lives. If it weren't so destructive, they would be pitiable characters.

Personally, I like to see them get caught and do a little hard time in a medium or high security prison.

This is good news, but I'll bet that the ACLU jumps on this, which is not surprising since there is a big overlap between them and the eco-terrorists.

It's not a very big jump from "Eco-Terrorists" to "Right-Wing Extremists". Define either group as you like. The government surely will.

I agree with you that these eco nuts are terrorists and as such they should all be gathered up and locked up immediately!

As I watch the news, several times a week unexplained fires of homes, businesses, etc. are told on the news, never to be repeated or explained, and I wonder turely if they were the work of these freaks! I doubt that they all our, but I bet some of them are!

Also, I hear almost every Senator, even if he or she is not happy with the President's Homeland security and military spending requests, saying the same thing....."When the next terrorist attack(s) happen..." "When", not if or maybe, but when...they know something is going to happen, as I suppose we all do...yet, as we face Al Qaeda knowing something is coming, we should not let these eco freaks run wild! When I went to the Patriots Rally for America in May, these nuts were running around with those that were of middle-eastern decent, and screaming "Death to America".....they are all tied in together and al Qaeda are using these idiot college students as pawns in their chest game!

It sickens me that folks don't take these kids seriously enough! Everybody wants to just say they are a bunch of misguided kids and will grow up one day....well, what the heck is a suicide bomber but a "mis-guided kid"....it is time to teach these kids of America running around like a bunch of chickens with heads (brains) attached supposedly, that there are consequences to their actions! Put them on farms to work, clean up streams and rivers of flood debri, let them learn to ranch, farm, log and mine just to make ends meet! That should make them grow up! As it is the huge environmental groups are paying these punks to go all across America and the world for that matter, to do the evil they do! Plus we need to stop funding the environmental groups...Sierra Club and all of them.....when the money runs out, so will the terrorists!

Sorry for getting on a soap box, but it makes me so angry that American kids are being used as such and are not smart enough to know it!
