Why can't a company log their own privately owned land?

Because trees aren't plants, and you can never grow new ones.

Besides, private landowners can never be trusted to manage their own property in a rational way. If you let Pacific Lumber have it's way, it would log these lands over and over again indefinitely.

Golly, if you understood these things, you'd change your name to Rainbow, and go live in a treehouse for a year, like all intelligent people do.
